Several Vietnamese universities have recently been named in lists of best universities in Asia and in the world by prestigious ranking organizations.

Seven Vietnamese universities have been listed in the Impact Rankings 2022 released by the Times Higher Education (THE) in April 2022. Of them, Hanoi-based Vietnam National University, Ton Duc Thang University, and Hanoi University of Science and Technology are in the group of 601-800 while Phenikaa University is among 801-1,000.

In 2020, only two Vietnamese education institutions were on the list and the figure was double last year.

The three new institutions that are on this year’s list are Duy Tan University and National Economics University (601-800) and FPT University (801-1,000).

All the universities received high rankings for achievements relating to the eighth Sustainable Develop Goals (SDG) – economic growth and decent work for all. Of these, HUST got the highest position with 70.3 points.

Only VNU-Hanoi gained high rankings for the fourth SDG – quality education with 63.1 points.

This is the fourth year THE Impact Rankings released the ranking following the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations, which call for global action to build a peaceful, fair, and prosperous society.

Vietnamese universities also have earned a greater reputation worldwide as more of their programs have received recognition and higher rankings from the UK’s Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) this year.

The VNU is one of the two leading multidisciplinary and multi-sectoral national universities in Vietnam, tasked with producing highly qualified human resources for the development of the country.

The VNU HCM was established in 1995 by the government to create a training center for undergraduate, postgraduate and science research, following high-quality and innovative multidisciplinary technology. It serves as the core of the higher education system and dedicates to the needs of socio-economic developments.

The HUST has been committed to research, knowledge development and intellectual training for the society. The university gains the reputation of being the first and the leading technical university in Vietnam thanks to generations of influential alumni.

Meanwhile, Ton Duc Thang is a pioneer in the piloting of autonomy for tertiary education institutions in Vietnam. The university has also boosted its profile on the global academic map by being consistently listed in world rankings.

It and Duy Tan University had broken into the ShanghaiRanking Consultancy’s Academic Ranking of World Universities in 2021.
