Foreign Leaders Congratulate Vietnam on 79th National Day

On Vietnam’s 79th anniversary of the National Day (September 2, 1945-2024), leaders of Laos, China, Cambodia, Cuba, Russia, India, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), and Mongolia have sent congratulations to leaders of the Party and State of Vietnam.

General Secretary of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith; Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone; and National Assembly Chairman Saysomphone Phomvihane have respectively offered congratulations to General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee and State President To Lam; Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh; and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man.

The Party, State, and People of Laos expressed their pride and delight in witnessing the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, States, and peoples of Laos and Vietnam, founded by the great President Ho Chi Minh, President Kaysone Phomvihane, and President Souphanouvong, are being preserved, nurtured, and increasingly deepened. They emphasized that these ties have become an invaluable asset for the Lao and Vietnamese peoples.

The Lao leaders also conveyed their deep gratitude and sincere thanks to the Party, State, and People of Vietnam for the invaluable, timely, and effective assistance during Laos' struggle for independence in the past, and in the national construction and development in the current phase.

They reaffirmed their commitment to continuing to work closely with the Party, State, and People of Vietnam to preserve and nurture the unique, special Vietnam-Laos relations, thereby yielding practical benefits for the people of both countries and contributing to peace, stability, cooperation, and development in the region and the world.

The Lao leaders extended their best wishes to the Party, State, and People of Vietnam, under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, led by General Secretary and President To Lam, for continued success in implementing the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, to reach the goal of rich people and a powerful, democratic, equal, and civilized nation.

On this occasion, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and President of China Xi Jinping extended congratulations to Party General Secretary and State President To Lam. Premier Li Qiang and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China Zhao Leji did the same to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, respectively.

In their messages, the Chinese leaders note that the Communist Party of Vietnam has united and led the Vietnamese people to achieve significant accomplishments in the socialist industrialization and modernization process.

They expressed confidence that, under the resilient leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Vietnam would continue to succeed on the path to socialism suitable to the national conditions.

The Chinese leaders recalled the state visit to China by General Secretary and President To Lam and the working visit by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh. During these visits, the two sides reached important understandings on enhancing the construction of a China-Vietnam community with a shared future that carries strategic significance. They also agreed to continue promoting the development of the socialist cause worldwide, making positive contributions to peace and progress for humanity.

The Chinese leaders noted that 2025 will mark the 75th anniversary of the establishment of China-Vietnam diplomatic relations, presenting a new opportunity for the development of bilateral ties. They emphasized their readiness to work with Vietnam to promote the construction of the China-Vietnam community with a shared future that carries strategic significance, bringing greater benefits to the people of both countries.

The Central Committee of the Cambodian People's Party sent a congratulatory message to the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam; Cambodian King Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni and Cambodian Acting Head of State Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen extended congratulations to General Secretary and President To Lam. Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet and Cambodian Chairman of the National Assembly Samdech Moha Rathsapheathika Thipadei Khuon Sudary also sent congratulatory letters to their Vietnamese counterparts.

The Cambodian leaders highly appreciated the continuous development of the relationship between the Parties, States, National Assemblies, and peoples of the two countries. They emphasized that these relations have deepened and elevated to a new height under the motto of “good neighborliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, and long-term sustainability”.

Congratulating Vietnam on its significant achievements across all fields, they expressed confidence that, under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, led by General Secretary and President To Lam, Vietnam will continue to achieve greater successes, ensuring the successful implementation of the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress and that Vietnam will become a high-income developed country by 2045.

They also expressed their wish to continue close cooperation with Vietnam to strengthen and develop the relationship between the two countries for mutual benefit.

On this occasion, First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of Cuba Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez extended his warmest congratulations to Vietnamese leader To Lam and the fraternal People of Vietnam, recalling the words of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz that no nation fighting for independence, has had to wage such a long and heroic struggle as the Vietnamese people.

He affirmed that Vietnam's victory has created a legacy admired by all humanity, which has been reinforced by the successes achieved under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam in the Doi Moi (renewal) process. He also reaffirmed the steadfast determination to continue strengthening the friendship between the two countries and Parties.

President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin offered congratulations to General Secretary and President To Lam. Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin; Chairwoman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matviyenko, and Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Vyacheslav Volodin did the same to their Vietnamese counterparts.

In their letters and messages, the Russian leaders affirmed that the Russia-Vietnam comprehensive strategic partnership, based on the excellent traditions of friendship and mutual respect, has reached a high level, with cooperation in various fields, including economics, trade, and culture, and in promising areas, including industry, energy, science, and technology. These ties were affirmed during the recent state visit to Vietnam by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

They stated that deepening cooperation with Vietnam is one of the priorities in Russia's foreign policy in the Asia-Pacific region; and expressed confidence that, through joint efforts, the two countries will continue to comprehensively develop the Russia-Vietnam comprehensive strategic partnership to meet the core interests of both countries and ensure security and stability in the Asia-Pacific region.

President of the Republic of India Droupadi Murmu and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi also extended congratulations to their Vietnamese counterparts.

The Indian leaders praised the long-standing traditional friendship between the two countries and expressed delight at the development of the Vietnam-India Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, based on mutual trust, deep understanding, and shared vision. They expressed confidence that Vietnam will achieve greater accomplishments in the coming time and reaffirmed their wish to strengthen cooperation, taking Vietnam-India relations to new heights, for the benefit of the peoples of both countries.

General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and Chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) Kim Jong Un sent congratulatory messages to General Secretary and President To Lam.

In his message, General Secretary and Chairman Kim Jong Un expressed his hope that, under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the people of Vietnam will continue to achieve greater accomplishments in their struggle to build a prosperous and civilized socialist country.

President of Mongolia Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh sent congratulatory messages to Vietnamese Party chief, President To Lam. He affirmed that the Mongolian leaders and people are delighted to witness that, in recent times, Vietnam has made remarkable progress in the region and globally, thanks to the sound policies of the Party and the State of Vietnam.

President Khurelsukh reaffirmed that under the principles of “friendship and cooperation", the two countries have learned from each other, with a desire to develop close friendship and cooperation within the international community framework.

He expressed his pleasure in working closely with his Vietnamese counterpart to further develop the friendship and cooperation between Mongolia and Vietnam in all areas, in line with the interests of the people of both countries.

Besides, Head of the External Relations Commission of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party Central Committee Thongsavanh Phomvihane extended congratulations to Le Hoai Trung, Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and Head of its Commission for External Relations.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Laos Saleumxay Kommasith; Minister of Foreign Affairs of China Wang Yi; Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia Sok Chenda Sophea; and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov sent congratulations to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Bui Thanh Son.
