Addressing a ceremony held by the Vietnamese Embassy in South Africa to celebrate the 79th National Day of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - 2024), Deputy Minister in the Presidency of South Africa Kenneth Morolong expressed his deep appreciation for Vietnam's inspiration and support for the South African people's liberation movement.

The official expressed his belief that the Party, State, and people of Vietnam will continue to achieve new successes in the coming time.

For his part, Ambassador Hoang Sy Cuong highlighted the historical significance of the National Day, noting that this year’s September 2 also marks the 55th anniversary of the implementation of late President Ho Chi Minh's testament.

2024 also marks 20 years since Vietnam and South Africa signed the joint declaration on partnership for cooperation and development, he said, stressing that after more than 30 years of officially establishing diplomatic ties, the bilateral relations have grown increasingly strong and diverse in many fields, especially economic cooperation.

On this occasion, the Vietnamese community in Cyprus also organized a gathering for Vietnamese people residing, working, and studying in the country.

Speaking at the event, Honorary Consul of Vietnam in Cyprus George Christophodes praised the patriotic spirit and acknowledged activities of the Vietnamese community in the country over the years, affirming his commitment to supporting and participating in community activities in the future.

Nenad Bogdanovic, a member of the EU's intercultural council, emphasized the involvement and integration of the Vietnamese community in Cyprus, and their contributions to the multicultural integration of Cyprus and the EU.

The event contributed to promoting solidarity, patriotism, and responsibility in the Vietnamese community in Cyprus.
