Twenty-three art troupes from Vietnam and France will gather in Hanoi to join the Performing Arts Spring Festival (PAS 2018) set to take place on May 18th-20th.

French and Vietnamese artists to compete at PAS 2018 in Hanoi

The PAS festival aims to celebrate all types of performing art by gathering all practices – amateur and professional – in Vietnam and South East Asian countries. Artists at different ages will perform various art forms at the event. The 2018 edition gathers 23 groups of children and adults coming from different art fields: theatre & improv, dance and movement, and music.

In addition, a French-speaking improvisation tournament opposing 4 teams of players from 12 to 15 years old will be held for the first time this year. The first match will open the festival at 7pm on Friday, May 18th, preceding “The next door”, a French play by The Three Mosquitoes company coming from Bangkok .

The PAS festival also provides a forum for artists to strengthen multicultural exchange. This year, it is being enriched with the participation of Vietnamese artists in multiple domains: playback theatre (ViPlayback), experimental theatre (The Run – Tra Nguyen) and contemporary dance (Kinergie Studio). Vietnamese and French musicians will also team up to present their work during the festival.

Moreover, this PAS edition will introduce to the public about various art workshops in Vietnamese, English and French on May 19th – 20th. Each workshop offers an excellent opportunity to practice different kinds of arts such as drama, puppet, storytelling, creative writing, visual arts and dance.

PAS 2018 is jointly held by the Agency for French Education Abroad (AEFE), the French school Alexandre Yersin and the French Embassy in Vietnam.

The festival takes place at the National Theater of Vietnam (No. 1 Trang Tien Street, Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi).

The languages used in the festival are Vietnamese, English and French, meaning that a wide audience can enjoy the spectacle./.
