French Energy Enterprises Ready to Expand Business Investment in Vietnam
Receiving the invitation of the President of the French Senate, Minister Nguyen Hong Dien led the delegation of the Ministry of Industry and Trade to attend the Southeast Asia Forum held in Paris (France) on December 4.
On the sidelines of the Forum, the Minister of Industry and Trade had a working session with leaders of several major French Oil, Gas and Energy Associations and Corporations such as Perenco, Electricite de France (EDF), Air Liquide, Hydrogen de France (HDF). |
At the meeting, Minister Nguyen Hong Dien highly appreciated the recent efforts and contributions of French corporations in the energy field. Dien affirmed that shifting energy from fossil fuels to clean fuel sources and renewable energy is inevitable for Vietnam.
The Vietnamese Minister also stressed that French energy corporations have a long history of cooperating with Vietnam from oil and gas exploitation and processing, electricity, to renewable energy, green energy development. This will be a great advantage for them to continue developing business activities in Vietnam.
Representatives of French energy corporations all expressed special interest in the Vietnamese market. They shared the trust and appreciation for Vietnam's determination in energy transition and greener economic transformation and will continue to maintain and expand business investment activities with Vietnamese partners.
The French energy corporations highlighted the field of promising cooperation opportunities such as green hydrogen, oil and gas exploration, hydropower, thermal power, and liquefied natural gas (LNG).
In response, Minister Nguyen Hong Dien affirmed that the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam is ready to create favorable conditions for businesses on the principle of harmonious benefits, shared risks, and in accordance with the provisions of Vietnamese law.
He hoped that French businesses will share experiences in building policy mechanisms, regulations and standards to develop new energy industries such as green hydrogen in Vietnam. According to Dien, another area that French businesses can continue to support is human resources and training in the energy sector.
