The Vietnam-Laos Friendship Association and the Laos - Vietnam Friendship Association organized an online conference to prepare its upcoming program, on July 8, in Hanoi.

The associations agreed to organize many activities, marking the history of the two countries' relations, as well as cooperation between the two friendship associations in 2022.

The conference was chaired by Tran Van Tuy, former member of the Central Committee of the Party, former member of the National Assembly Standing Committee, former Deputy Head of the Central Organization Committee, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Laos-Vietnam Friendship Association and Khambay Damlath - member of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Democratic Party, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly of Laos, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Laos - Vietnam Friendship Association.

Tran Van Tuy congratulated the Lao people on achievements won under the leadership of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party. Especially the successful organization of the 11th Congress of the Lao Revolutionary People's Party, the 9th National Assembly session of the Lao National Assembly, the election of a new leadership board of the Lao Party and State, in which Khambay Damlath was elected Vice Chairman of the National Assembly.

Tran Van Tuy informed attendeees about the activities of the Vietnam - Laos Friendship Association in the first half of 2021, and proposed coordination activities between the Friendship Association of the two countries.

In 2022, Vietnam and Laos will celebrate the 60th anniversary odiplomatic relations, and the 45th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.

To celebrate these important events, the two Friendship Associations will organize a number of commemorative activities such as the 4th Vietnam - Laos People's Friendship Festival, publishing bilingual publications about the legendary West Truong Son road, contests to learn (online, articles) about the history and relations of the two countries, as well as meetings and friendship exchanges between border association provinces.

The Vietnam-Laos Friendship Association will also continue to coordinate with other departments and agencies to disseminate the history of special relations between Vietnam and Laos; promote activities of border associations: enhance exchanges and cooperation between people on both sides of the border, as well as contribute to building a border between Vietnam and Laos of peace, friendship, stability, cooperation and development.

Chairman of the Laos-Vietnam Friendship Association Khambay Damlath said that all achievements were an encouragement and valuable lessons for the Lao people in the cause of national construction and development.

Khambay Damlath expressed his sincere gratitude and appreciation to the Party, Government and people of Vietnam in helping Laos control and deal with the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic. The Vietnam-Laos Friendship Association has donated and supported the Lao people with more than VND 600 million (US$ 26,000) and 225,000 masks.

He approved and agreed with the upcming cooperation plan between the two Associations, especially plans to celebrate the 60th anniversary diplomatic relations, and the 45th anniversary of the signing of the Vietnam - Laos Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation in 2022. Khambay Damlath asked the secretariat of the two associations to develop specific cooperation plans and programs.

Nguyen Phuong Nga, secretary of the Party Union, president of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations said he appreciated the organization of the online conference by the two Friendship Associations.

"This proves that the Covid-19 pandemic cannot prevent exchanges between the two sides. The conference was held right after the official friendship visit to Vietnam in the new position of General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith," Phuong Nga said. "This shows that concrete actions contribute to strengthening, consolidating and further developing the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos."

President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations Nguyen Phuong Nga said: "In 2022 , we will celebrate the historical milestones in the relationship between the two countries with practical and concrete activities to spread the meaning and special importance of the Vietnam-Laos relationship."

Nguyen Phuong Nga said the Friendship Union would do its best to coordinate with the Vietnam-Laos Friendship Association and Laos friends, to be able to best perform the assigned tasks.
