Germany Issues Visas for Vietnamese Passports with Added Birthplace Info

That also means Germany will grant visas on the new passports supplemented with birthplace information and allow their holders to enter this country, VietnamPlus said.
Chu Tuan Duc, Minister Counsellor of the embassy, said the German authorities also hope Vietnam will take measures for facilitating and ensuring safety for travel between the two countries, and that the two sides will keep exchanging information about measures Vietnam will carry out in the time ahead.
He added the embassy is still working to add birthplace information to the new passports free of charge to create favorable conditions for Vietnamese citizens when they need to handle related procedures at German agencies.

Earlier, replying to questions from Vietnam News Agency, the German Federal Foreign Office and Federal Department of Home Affairs had said authorities of Germany are actively working and examining the new passport version of Vietnam, affirming that like Vietnam, Germany also pays great attention to the facilitation and safety of travel between the two countries.
Since a passport without information on the place of birth may cause difficulties for management in some countries, to help Vietnamese citizens seeking visas to the 26 Schengen countries, the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has agreed to add the place of birth in the appendix of the new passport if its holders wish, Viet Nam News said.
In the long term, the MPS will revise the passport design and add the “place of birth” on the page of personal details, it noted, adding that it is collecting opinions about this issue from the parliament’s committees for defense - security and legal affairs, the Government Office, the Ministry of Justice, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs./.
