Hai Duong province provided $11.67 million to fight COVID-19

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has decided to allocate VND 270 billion ($11.67 million) from the central budget reserve in 2021 to support the Northern Hai Duong province in fighting Covid-19 as the locality has been hardest hit by the pandemic since the resurgence of the virus in late January.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has decided to allocate VND 270 billion ($11.67 million) from the central budget reserve in 2021 to support the Northern Hai Duong province in fighting Covid-19 as the locality has been hardest hit by the pandemic since the resurgence of the virus in late January.

The Ministry of Finance was tasked with managing the sum and instructing the Hai Duong People’s Committee, with the two entirely responsible for the management and use of as well as making reports on the funding in line with regulations to ensure its efficiency, publicity and transparency, according to Vietnamplus.

The PM also assigned the provincial People's Committee to promptly conduct prevention measures using financial assistance from the central budget reserve, local resources, and other legally mobilized sources. The related reports on the pandemic prevention and control work will be submitted to the PM for consideration of the final sum allocated to the province.

Hai Duong to end social distancing from midnight April 1

Hai Duong has decided to lift social distancing measures from midnight on April 1.

Moving forward, the province will continue to implement several preventive measures in a bid to fully adapt to the “new normal” now that the pandemic has been brought under control in the locality, VOV reported.

This comes after no new COVID-19 cases have been detected in the province over the past 30 days, with only 41 patients currently receiving treatment at centralized quarantine facilities.

The results of all drivers, students, and those who took a COVID-19 test throughout the province have come back negative, thereby allowing 95% of enterprises and manufacturing facilities in the province to successfully resume business activities. Upon reopening, firms have been requested to follow COVID-19 prevention measures.

Furthermore, students in the province will also return to school on April 1, with Pham Xuan Thang, secretary of the provincial Party Committee, asking local schools to make preparations for the resumption of learning and to ensure the safety of all students.

Due to the possibility that the outbreak may return, the entire local political system will not be lowering its guard and will remain on high alert for any fight ahead, he added.

Vietnam launched its inoculation campaign on March 8. According to the National Expanded Immunization Programme as of March 30, an additional 1,840 people across nine provinces and cities, had been vaccinated, bringing the overall number of vaccinated people nationwide to 48,256.

The country recorded no new COVID-19 cases in the past 12 hours to 6 pm on March 30, keeping the total number of infections in the country at 2,594, the Ministry of Health (MoH) said.

Of the total, 1,603 are domestically-transmitted cases, including 910 infections since the third wave of outbreaks hit the country on January 27.

The MoH's Medical Service Administration reported that 51 more patients have been given the all-clear from coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, raising the total number of recoveries to 2,359.

The death toll from the disease was still kept at 35, the administration said.

Among active patients undergoing treatment at medical establishments across the country, 18 tested negative to the virus once, 15 twice, and 37 thrice.

As many as 46,454 people who had close contact with COVID-19 patients or entered Vietnam from pandemic regions are being quarantined nationwide, including 506 in hospitals, 19,379 in state-designated establishments, and 26,569 at their residences.

To live safely with the pandemic, the MoH advised people to remain proactive in pandemic prevention and control by continuing to wear face masks when going out, disinfecting frequently, maintaining a safe distance, refraining from mass gatherings, and making medical declarations.
