Hanoi Opera House Performs Beloved "Blue Bird" Play
The event welcomed Minister-Premier of the Government of the French-speaking Belgian Community Wallonie-Bruxelles Pierre-Yves Jeholet; Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong; Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Vu; Representatives of the governments of the Wallonia Region and the French-speaking Belgian Community in Vietnam Nicolas Dervaux; along with a large audience, including amazed children.

The performance was held on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Wallonie-Bruxelles Delegation to Vietnam (1996-2021) and the official visit to Vietnam by the Minister-Premier of the Government of the French-speaking Belgian Community Wallonie-Brussels, Pierre-Yves Jeholet (October 17-21).
In the opening speech, Pierre-Yves Jeholet emphasized the priority of promoting French and highlighted the key areas and potentials between Vietnam and Wallonia-Bruxelles to master French, making it an important factor in the development of economic and cultural development.
With these meanings, the performance of the play "Blue Bird" was successfully held with warm applause from the audience, creating a special mark for the 25th anniversary of cooperation between Vietnam and Wallonia-Bruxelles.
"The Blue Bird" is the work of the Belgian writer Maurice Maeterlinck, who won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1911. The work was first staged in 1908 and is considered a masterpiece of contemporary theater.
The play, which explores the adventures of discovering happiness through the representation of a bluebird, has so far been performed by several theaters and art groups throughout the globe, becoming a classic work of literature and art. A common item and a representation of joy and affection for many generations of youngsters worldwide.
This work was performed and launched to the public for the first time in 2017 with the help of the Wallonie-Bruxelles Delegation in Vietnam.
Despite the effects of the Covid 19 pandemic, the cooperation in cultural exchange and exchange between Vietnam and the Belgian-speaking community in France has been actively promoted and has continued to grow since the premiere of the play "The Blue Bird," which was well received by young audiences in Vietnam.
