Hanoi supports the construction of 7,565 houses for the poor

Outstanding locality in poverty elimination
According to Ha Noi Moi, speaking at the launching ceremony of Month for the Poor, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi Nguyen Lan Huong said, thanks to the practical policies of the city, the joining hands of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the unions, businesses, philanthropists, people's living standard have been improved, many families have promoted their internal strengths to escape poverty. Up to now, the poverty rate of the city is only 0.4%, which makes Hanoi an outstanding locality in poverty eradication, contributing to the implementation of the national target program.
Ms. Nguyen Lan Huong said although it is necessary to both prevent the COVID-19 pandemic as well as stabilize and develop the economy, but with the motto of "Not leaving the poor behind", the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee at all levels has actively propagated, mobilized, and supported the Fund for the poor.
In the first 9 months of 2020, the fund has received over 15 billion VND, which supports the construction of nearly 400 houses, offers loans, medical examination and treatment, and gifts to support thousands of poor households.
Along with caring for poor households, in the first 9 months of the year, the Vietnam Fatherland Front has deducted more than 2.3 billion VND to visit and support unfortunate families who suffered from natural disasters.

Poor households in Hanoi only account for 0.4%.
Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Chu Ngoc Anh acknowledged and praised industries, agencies, businesses for enthusiastically responding, actively participating, and contributing to sustainable poverty reduction and social security improvement of the city in the past time.
According to the Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee, in 2016, Hanoi had more than 65,000 poor households (accounting for 3.64%), by the end of 2018, the poverty rate was only 1.16% (reaching the target of the 2016-2020 period). By September 2020, the percentage of poor households in Hanoi decreased to 0.4%.
Mr. Chu Ngoc Anh said that one of the key tasks to be set by the city's 17th Party Congress in the coming time is to harmonize economic growth with cultural development; increase the effectiveness of social governance, ensuring social security, social progress, and justice; constantly improving social welfare and the quality of citizens' life, reducing the gap in living standards between urban and rural areas.
According to Kinh te Do thi, during the ceremony, the Organizing Committee carried out the inauguration ceremony of 90 Solidarity houses built from the city. Fund for the poor gave support to 90 households in 8 districts; awarded the construction of 2 "Great solidarity" houses, 2 motorbikes, 2 breeding cows, and 1 scholarship for 7 poor households. The organizers also praised and honored 90 typical organizations, businesses, philanthropists who have made active contributions to the social security work implemented by the Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels in recent years.
