(VNF) - Firework will light up Dam Sen Cultural Park in HCM City to celebrate the 72nd Independence Day on September 2.

Chairman of HCM City People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong has approved the plan of fireworks display on the occasion of celebrating the Independence Day (September 2) at Dam Sen Cultural Park in District 11.

Accordingly, Saigontourist Travel Service Company will host the 15-minute firework display from 9 pm to 9:15 pm.

Fireworks display is aimed to attract domestic, foreign tourists and local people, contributing to the growth of the city’s tourism industry.

For last years, the city scheduled fireworks display on Independence Day at two locations: Thu Thiem Tunnel in District 2 and Dam Sen Park in District 11.

Previously, firework displays for the Reunification Day and Labour Day in HCM City were rejected by the party secretariat as part of the government's austerity call. Provinces and cities were also asked to not hold firework displays during Tet Festival and instead use the funds to support poor people./.
