At the reception, Vice Chairman Vo Van Hoan welcomed Governor Kuroiwa back to visit Ho Chi Minh City at a meaningful time, when both countries are preparing to summarize the first year of implementation of the Vietnam-Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with many positive results.

Vice Chairman Hoan also expressed his appreciation to the Governor and the Prefecture of Kanagawa for choosing Ho Chi Minh City as the venue for the first Kanagawa Investment Conference, within the framework of the Kanagawa Festival in Vietnam 2024. This demonstrates the interest and affection for the City and the goodwill to promote the relationship between Ho Chi Minh City-Kanagawa Prefecture, as well as between Vietnam – Japan in general. It also symbolizes the appreciation for the role and ability of Ho Chi Minh City in contributing to bilateral cooperation.

Vice Chairman Vo Van Hoan said that for the government and people of Ho Chi Minh City, Japan is one of the closest and most sustainable partners. Japan is currently the third largest investor in the City. In the first 10 months of 2024, Japanese businesses invested more than USD 113 million in 108 projects, increasing the total number of Japanese investment projects in the City to nearly 1,800 projects with a total capital of nearly USD 5.9 billion.

Congratulating the success of the Vietnam Festival in Kanagawa in September 2024 with an impressive number of 210,000 visitors, Hoan expressed strong confidence that with the enthusiasm of the Governor and his colleagues, the Kanagawa Festival in Vietnam will be a great success, contributing another vivid mark to the first year of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.

According to Hoan, with its strategic location and modern investment ecosystem, Kanagawa is not only an ideal investment destination but also a place that opens up many cooperation opportunities for businesses in Ho Chi Minh City and Vietnam with the goal of sustainable development and increased value. At the same time, with advantages and priorities for developing key industries such as logistics, seaport industry, infrastructure development, healthcare and education, Kanagawa and Ho Chi Minh City share many similarities, which can be foundation to build mutually beneficial cooperation models.

Governer Kuroiwa Yuji said that the purpose of his visit to Vietnam this time is to attend the Kanagawa Festival in am 2024 and the first Kanagawa Investment Conference, thereby contributing to further deepening cultural exchanges and economic relations between am and Japan.

Kanagawa Governor acknowledged the proposals of Vice Chairman Vo Van Hoan and promised to introduce the strengths of Ho Chi Minh City to businesses in Kanagawa so that both sides will have more exciting investment promotion activities in the future.
