Ho Chi Minh city provides ARV medicines for district-level hospitals
Ho Chi Minh city will carry out a plan on ARV treatment in district-level hospitals to meet patient’s growing demand of ARV treatment in the coming time.

Dr. Tieu Thi Thu Van, Head of the Office of the Ho Chi Minh city Committee for HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control said that the city is treating about 25,000 HIV/AIDS patients. However, according to estimates by the Vietnam Administration of AIDS Control (VAAC) under the Ministry of Health, the city has just treated about 50% of the total number of people infected with HIV/AIDS. The remaining have not been detected, intervened and treated yet.
Currently, the city has 31 ARV treatment centers, which are all overload.
"ARV medicines have been listed in health insurance medicines. However, it has been carried out treatment in district level hospital successfully, added Dr Thu Van.
Over the past time, the Ho Chi Minh city Committee for HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control has implemented early ARV treatment model for people infected with HIV in seven facilities with the socialization method and expects to open additional five facilities to help HIV-infected people be possible to access early treatment if paid for independently./.
