On January 15, 1975, the Vietnam - Laos Friendship Association was founded, marking a significant milestone in fostering exchanges and mutual understanding between the two nations. Over the past 50 years, the Association has persistently strengthened and developed the traditional friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos. Through diverse and creative activities, the Association has helped transform this special friendship into a priceless asset cherished by both peoples.

Cultural exchange and people-to-people exchanges are identified as priority areas of cooperation in the overall Vietnam-Brunei Darussalam Comprehensive Partnership.

On January 10, during Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's visit and working program in Laos, he and Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone attended the groundbreaking ceremony of the Laos - Vietnam Friendship Park project in Vientiane, Laos.

Over the past 22 years, Robert Valentino Kalatschan, President and Chief Representative of Giving It Back To Kids (GIBTK) in Vietnam, has made contributions to humanitarian work, helping to change the lives of many children, people with disabilities, and families in difficult circumstances. In recognition of his contributions to the sustainable development of Vietnam, on January 9, the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations awarded him a Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister.
