Honoring President Ho Chi Minh in Buenos Aires
On Oct. 27, the Embassy of Vietnam in Argentina held a ceremony to commemorate the renovation of the Vietnam Square and the inauguration of the bronze plate capturing President Ho Chi Minh’s biography, which was put under the Ho Chi Minh Statue in District 12 of the capital city Buenos Aires.
The commemoration ceremony aimed to celebrate 48 years of Vietnam – Argentina diplomatic relations (Oct. 25, 1973 – Oct. 25, 2021). It was attended by the Argentinian Deputy Minister of Culture Valeria Gonzales, representatives of the Argentinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Worship, Buenos Aires and District 12 authorities, the Vietnam-Argentina – Vietnam Center, Ambassador of Cuba to Argentina Pablo Prada and Argentinian friends.
Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador of Vietnam to Argentina Duong Quoc Thanh highlighted the contributions of President Ho Chi Minh to the fight for liberation in Vietnam, opening a new era of development of peace and independence.
The ambassador underlined that the values of President Ho Chi Minh’s school of thought, especially in international cooperation, were retained until today. It was guidance for the Community Party and the Government of Vietnam in the development of the country.

Honoring President Ho Chi Minh in foreign countries was an important part of cultural diplomacy activities to boost the friendship and solidarity between Vietnam and other countries in the world, he added.
Ambassador Quoc Thanh appreciated the sentiments and valuable support that the government and people of Argentina had given to Vietnam in its fight for independence and the quest for economic development today.
The ambassador affirmed that Vietnam and Argentina continued to strengthen the comprehensive partnership in the past 48 years, based on the international friendship that President Ho Chi Minh had nurtured.
On behalf of the government of Vietnam, Ambassador Quoc Thanh thanked the authorities of Buenos Aires, especially in District 12, for creating favorable conditions for the renovation of the Vietnam square and building the bronze plate highlighting President Ho Chi Minh’s biography, making this location a cultural highlight of Vietnam in the capital city.
The ambassador also conveyed his appreciation to leaders of Hanoi, particularly the Hoan Kiem district, for funding this integral and humane project. He also expressed his hope that the relationship between the twin sister Hanoi and Buenos Aires would continue to prosper, contributing to the general relationships between the two countries.

On her part, Deputy Minister of Culture Valeria Gonzales expressed her admiration for President Ho Chi Minh, a symbol of the fight for independence in Vietnam and for other oppressed, peace-loving peoples.
Deputy Minister Gonzales affirmed that the people of Argentina had been supporting the efforts for independence and development of Vietnam which President Ho Chi Minh initiated. Argentina committed to continuing fostering solidarity and friendship with Vietnam in all aspects, she added.
Deputy Minister Gonzales underlined that the statue of President Ho Chi Minh in Buenos Aires was a symbol of the friendship between the peoples of Argentina and Vietnam.
