Some 500 children under 16 years old will receive free heart surgery and a contribution towards travel and food expenses during treatment under a program to be carried out at Cho Ray Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City from now until the end of 2016.

The information was announced on September 8^th by MA. Le Minh Hien, Head of the Social Work Department, Cho Ray Hospital.

According to Mr. Hien, the program, sponsored by an enterprise, aims to share difficulties with patients who contract inborn heart diseases.

The sponsor has contributed an initial amount of VND500 million to pay fees beyond health insurance and part of the travel and food costs of the heart patients.

“For people who contract inborn heart diseases, surgery will help them have healthy life as normal people,” said Mr. Hien. “However, due to difficult economic condition, many parents cannot afford medical treatment for their children. Therefore, the sponsorship will open up opportunities to help child patients be cured from the disease and return to normal life./.”
