A rare series of photos vividly portraying daily life in Quang Ninh, northern Vietnam in 1994-1995 taken by French correspondent Bruno Barbey of Magnum news agency has been revealed.
Quang Ninh, some 150 km to the Northeast of Hanoi, is home to the world-famous heritage Ha Long Bay. The province is also acclaimed for having the largest coal reserve in Vietnam.
With a diverse topographic, from sea, islands, plains, midlands, hills, to borders, Quang Ninh is considered a miniature Vietnam. It has long ingrained in the mind of many Vietnamese and foreigners as a picturesque destination, boasting majestic mountain ranges, a 250-km-long coastline, and nearly 2,000 islands.
The French photographer Bruno had, during his business trip in 1994-1995, spent time in Quang Ninh capturing rare photos of the day-to-day life in here. To date, a lot of places in his photos have become world-famous landscapes such as Bai Tu Long Bay and Ha Long Bay.
Let’s admire Bruno’s artwork to feel the hustle and bustle life of Quang Ninh some 25 years ago.
