Improving Coordination Efficiency in Work Related to Overseas Vietnamese

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang, who is also Chairwoman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs (COVA) recently chaired a meeting with the Ho Chi Minh City Committee for Overseas Vietnamese to review the coordination between the two agencies in 2024 and orient the key work in 2025.

In 2024, the two sides regularly maintained effective communication to share information on the development, amendment, and supplementation of policies, documents, and regulations of the Party, the State, or documents of Ho Chi Minh City related to Overseas Vietnamese affairs. They also closely coordinated in organizing many important events such as the Spring Homeland program, the 4th World Conference of Overseas Vietnamese, and Summer camp for young overseas Vietnamese.

Vu Thi Huynh Mai, chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City Committee for Overseas Vietnamese, highly appreciated the support from the COVA and the Foreign Ministry. The close cooperation between the two sides has created a positive momentum, helping the Ho Chi Minh City Committee for Overseas Vietnamese to maximize its role and potential.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang emphasized the key tasks for 2025, including activities for overseas Vietnamese to attend the celebration of major national holidays namely the Great Unity journey visiting Truong Sa islands and the Liberation of the Reunification Day (April 30) and International Labor Day (May 1) celebration held in Ho Chi Minh City.

Hang requested the two agencies to closely review the coordination work in implementing important projects related to Overseas Vietnamese such as the mobilization of resources from overseas Vietnamese for national development, and the Day for Honoring Vietnamese Language in Vietnamese Communities Abroad among others.

On this occasion, representatives of the two agencies discussed and agreed on many specific directions in the coordination of holding upcoming important events. The two sides also shared experiences in restructuring, arranging, and streamlining the apparatus, effectively using the budget and human resources as well as implementing digital transformation in their work.
