Increasing cooperation between Da Nang and China’s Taiwan
Vice Chairman of the Da Nang city People’s Committee Tran Van Mien has said the city attaches importance to developing high quality human resources, tourism services, trade and the attraction of domestic and foreign investment in the hi-tech industry, information and technology, the development of sustainable urban infrastructure and environmental friendly city.
He made the statement during a working meeting with the Taipei (Taiwan, China) Economic and Cultural Office in Hanoi, led by its Head Shi Rui Qi on September 26th.
There are currently some 20 valid Taiwanese projects, with a total capital of USD188 million, while a majority of universities in Da Nang city have set up cooperation links with many Taiwanese universities, according to Vice Chairman Mien.
The Da Nang city People’s Committee Vice Chairman urged the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Hanoi to give support in introducing Taiwanese enterprises to study and invest in the Vietnamese city’s hi-tech park and the information and technology park.
He also stressed that the cooperation in terms of developing high quality human resources in information and technology, the management of education and the application of information and technology in agricultural production should be increased; and the direct flight from Taipei or Kaohsiung city to Da Nang city should open.
Mr. Shi Rui Qi thanked the Da Nang city authority for making favourable conditions for Taiwanese enterprises to study and carry out investment projects, expressing his hope that the cooperative and friendly relations between Da Nang and Taiwan would be further expanded.
He confirmed that he would pay attention to introducing Da Nang city’s strengths to Taiwanese enterprises to attract greater numbers of Taiwanese investors to the Vietnamese city, contributing to promoting the good relations between the two localities./.
