Vietnamese Tet is an incredibly meaningful tradition, and after living in Vietnam for four years, I have had many opportunities to share the joy and festive atmosphere of Tet with the Vietnamese people, said Indonesian Ambassador.

I view Tet as a time for everyone to set aside work and the daily hustle to spend more meaningful moments with family, loved ones, and friends. The shared joy and festive atmosphere during this period are not only delightful but also evoke a deep sense of connection to our roots, especially for those of us living far from home.

Bold, thoughtful approaches for 2025

At the Indonesian Embassy, we also celebrate Tet annually. Vietnamese staff members return to their hometowns to reunite with their families, while our Indonesian colleagues use this time to connect with loved ones or travel to popular destinations across Vietnam. With the country's thriving tourism industry and increasing accessibility, exploring Vietnam’s attractions has become an enriching experience.

Building on the achievements of 2024, we aim for even greater milestones in Indonesia-Vietnam relations in 2025. Last year, our trade and investment ties grew exponentially, with bilateral trade increasing by 21% to US$16.7 billion and two-way investments reaching remarkable levels.

In 2025, we aspire to renew our commitments and work together toward a shared vision of becoming high-income nations by 2045. Achieving this will require bold yet meticulous approaches, perfectly aligned with the spirit of the Year of the Snake.

As we mark the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Vietnam this year, we are eager to deepen our bilateral ties further. Our goal is to unlock new opportunities for cooperation while reinforcing the foundations for peace, stability, and prosperity across the region.

Confidence in Vietnam’s growth

Vietnam surpassed numerous projections in 2024, achieving an impressive economic growth rate of 7.09%, making it one of the fastest-growing economies in the world. This success came despite significant challenges, including the devastating impact of Typhoon Yagi. If this trajectory continues, Vietnam is on track to achieve its ambitions of becoming a high-income nation by 2045 and reaching net-zero emissions by 2050.

I firmly believe that Vietnam will play an increasingly influential role on the global stage. Through proactive policies, international integration, and collaboration, Vietnam is well-positioned to make even greater contributions to regional peace, stability, and prosperity.

As ASEAN members collectively reflect on our shared vision, Indonesia celebrates Vietnam’s remarkable progress and stands ready to collaborate on strategic areas of mutual interest. Vietnam remains a critical partner in addressing global challenges such as economic resilience, peace-building, and sustainable development.

On this wonderful occasion of Tet, I wish the Vietnamese people a joyful and prosperous new year.

Happy New Year!
