According to the Vietnamese Embassy in France, within the framework of the Consular Festival, Ambassador Dinh Toan Thang attended the welcome ceremony held at Lyon City Hall. He visited the Vietnam pavilion at Bellcour Square, met with the Vietnamese Association in Lyon and its vicinity (UGVR) as well as the Vietnamese Student Association.
With the theme of sports and folk games this year, the 2023 Consular Festival has special significance as it takes place within the framework of the 50th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Vietnam and France and the 10th anniversary of the strategic partnership.
As the guest of honor, Vietnam continues to make a strong impression on city leaders, diplomatic representatives, consular representatives of the participating countries as well as the French audience and international friends coming to the pavilion.
Not only excited about the martial arts performance, the audience was also interested and enthusiastically participated in discovering the bamboo dance of ethnic groups in the Northwest region of Vietnam, with dedicated guidance from students in colorful traditional costumes.
In addition, visitors were also excited to discover Vietnam's sports and folk games through photo exhibitions and participate in the lucky draw for two round-trip air tickets to Vietnam.
Welcoming Ambassador Dinh Toan Thang at City Hall and visiting the Vietnam pavilion, Mayor of Lyon Gregory Doucet appreciated Vietnam's special performances at this year's Consular Festival, as well as contributions of the Vietnamese community to the city and the development of relations between the two countries over the past 50 years.
On this occasion, Ambassador Dinh Toan Thang emphasized the strengths and potential in the bilateral relationship, especially the Vietnam-France local cooperation and the results achieved in the 12th decentralized cooperation conference just took place in Hanoi.

During the meeting with the Vietnamese community in Lyon, Ambassador Dinh Toan Thang wished that the overseas Vietnamese in Lyon would continue to unite and support each other in life, contributing to the homeland. Each individual and association promotes the spirit of dynamism, and creativity in movement activities, preserving Vietnamese cultural identity and integrating well with the host country.
The Ambassador wanted that the overseas Vietnamese in Lyon, as well as generations of international students, have good ideas, and making practical contributions to the country.
Head of the UGVR Association Nguyen Quang Hung Anh, on behalf of the community, expressed his pleasure to welcome the delegation of the Vietnamese Embassy in France. He reported practical ideas to contribute to the construction of the Vietnamese movement in Lyon, including supporting the Vietnamese teaching curriculum and organizing a consular day to assist with documents for people in Lyon.

This gift aims to continue developing the bilateral relationship to a new height, in which the Vietnamese community promotes the tradition of the overseas Vietnamese movement in France to make more positive contributions to strengthen the cooperation and build the country.
