Japanese Prime Minister Gifted Ball Signed by Vietnamese Players

According to the Vietnam News Agency correspondent in Tokyo, on April 15, on behalf of Vietnam's national football team, the ambassador to Japan Vu Hong Nam handed over a gift to Takehiro Kano, Director of the Department of Southeast Asia Department under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The gift, which was a ball signed by Vietnamese football players, will be transferred to Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.
Ambassador Vu Hong Nam said the Vietnamese national football team was honored to compete with Japanese players in the 2022 World Cup's third qualification round. In the match at the stadium At Saitama Stadium on March 29, Vietnamese players performed their best and won a draw against Japan.
The gift represents the Vietnamese national football team's respect toward Prime Minister Kishida Fumio and the two countries' flourishing friendship.

In response, Takehiro Kano confirmed that he would deliver the gift to Prime Minister Kishida Fumio. He said both teams had a great match. He hoped that the teams would continue to hold joint activities to support each other to improve their skills.
Nguyen Vo Huyen Duong, the representative of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) in Japan, reported to Kano and Vu Hong Nam on the situation of Vietnamese football and football cooperation between the two countries.
Duong said besides goalkeeper Dang Van Lam, who was playing for Cerezo Osaka Club in the J1 League, four other Vietnamese players played in Japanese football tournaments, including 2 players playing in J2 League and 2 players in J3 League.
Diplomacy and good sportsmanship will continue to be displayed between the two nations. It is expected that a number of Vietnamese teams, including the national women's football team and the U23 male team, will be trained in Japan this year.
