Japan’s Fukuoka Prefecture Looks to Woo Vietnamese Investors

The meeting took place within the framework of the second Overseas Vietnamese Economic Forum opened at Fukuoka International Congress Center, Japan, on October 6, aiming to promote connectivity between Vietnamese business expatriates and their peers at home.
At the meeting, Hang noted with pleasure the positive developments of cooperation between Fukuoka and Vietnamese localities.
She emphasized that the participation of nearly 300 delegates from eight Vietnamese localities and many Vietnamese business associations both at home and abroad demonstrated their interest and desire to promote cooperation with the Japanese market, the Kyushu region, and Fukuoka prefecture in particular.
The official noted her hope that many cooperation agreements between businesses and localities of Vietnam and Kyushu will be signed and implemented, practically benefiting the Vietnam-Japan extensive strategic partnership for peace and prosperity in Asia.
Hang used the occasion to thank the Japanese government and authorities of the Kyushu region and Fukuoka prefecture for creating favorable conditions for Vietnamese to live and work there.

Hattori stressed that since the Vietnamese Consulate General was opened in Fukuoka in 2009, the relations between Fukuoka as well as the Kyushu region, and Vietnam have developed strongly in many fields.
The official expressed his hope that after this event, Fukuoka will welcome more Vietnamese enterprises to invest and do business, and not only that, Fukuoka will become the gateway to Japan for the Vietnamese business community.
Speaking at the economic forum, Hang, who is also head of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs, expressed her hope that the Vietnam - Japan relations, including those between Vietnam and Kyushu, will become a role model of the partnership for development.
She said she wished for the effective implementation of cooperation frameworks and projects in trade investment, hi-tech agriculture, labor, manpower training, climate change response, green growth, new-generation official development assistance (ODA), strategic infrastructure, food security, and energy transition.
Hang said she believes that with many complementary advantages, Vietnam will be part of the answer to the search for growth momentum for the economy of Japan and Kyushu.
Particularly, the nearly 6 million overseas Vietnamese, including many successful entrepreneurs and intellectuals, in more than 130 countries and territories an important resource for Vietnam’s development and also high potential partners of Japanese and global businesses, she added.
