Three projects were handed over including Ngoc Chuc 1 Primary School construction project in the Giong Rieng district; three rural traffic bridges built in 2 districts of An Minh and Giong Rieng district; and the project building of a new classroom block for Mong Tho A1 Primary School in Chau Thanh district.
Previously, due to a lack of classrooms, students could not study twice a day. Travelling also poses many unsafe risks because there are no standard bridges.
Therefore, with aid from the Japanese Government's grassroots non-refundable aid program with a total value of USD 271,168 for these three projects, the Japanese government has funded the construction of six new classrooms in two school sites and three solid concrete bridges in communes of Giong Rieng and An Minh districts.
Japanese Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City Ono Masuo said that the Kien Giang Union of Friendship Organizations and related parties have always cooperated to complete projects of the Japanese General Grant Aid Program.
He hopes that in the future the educational environment for children in the area will be improved as well as ensuring safety for people's daily commute in the area, thereby improving daily lives, and contributing to local economic development.
President of the Kien Giang Union of Friendship Organizations, Tran Chi Dung, said that to date, the unit has received 13 projects with 30 construction items and medical equipment from the general grant aid program of the Japanese government with a total capital equivalent to VND 26 billion (over USD 1 million).
Projects are evenly distributed to communes of 15 districts and towns in the province, especially in difficult areas, remote areas, border areas, and islands.
The projects have brought practical results, promptly solving difficulties in classrooms and transportation for people in rural areas and primary health care for people in coastal and island areas.
