After the success of the movie festival "Japan Hour 2023" in early October, the Japan Foundation Center for Cultural Exchange in Vietnam (The Japan Foundation) recently announced that the “JAPANESE FILM FESTIVAL 2023” will be held for two months starting October 27.

The festival will first take place in Ho Chi Minh City (October 27 – November 9). The second city is Da Nang city (November 17 – 19). The first week of December, it will take place in Hai Phong city (December 1 – 3). The last destination is in Hanoi (December 8 – 21).

A total of eight films will be screened with Vietnamese and English subtitles. At the festival, there are some of the latest released films in Japan like "The Water Flows To The Sea" and "Liar x Liar". A variety of genres such as drama, thriller, romance/comedy will be offered to movie lovers across the country.

In particular, the romance film entitled "We Made a Beautiful Bouquet" (directed by Doi Nobuhiro) has gained many film awards in Japan. It is about a love story spanning 5 years between a man (Masaki Suda ) and a woman (Kasumi Arimura). First meeting by chance when both of them miss the last train at Meidaimae Station in Tokyo, their relationship develops romantically. So far, its female lead Kasumi Arimura won the 2022 Japanese Academy Film Awards for Best Actress. On an international scale, "We Made a Beautiful Bouquet" was also nominated for the 2022 Golden Rooster Award for "Best Foreign Language Film".

Many "Slam Dunk" fans also look forward to watching the anime blockbuster "The First Slam Dunk". This manga adaptation is reported to be the 16th highest-grossing film of all time in Japan and the 10th highest-grossing anime film in Japan. The film also won Animation of the Year at the 46th annual Japanese Academy Film Awards.
