The Vietnamese national badminton tournament in Japan - 2023 BAVIJA Badminton Championships took place on October 15, at Hasuma Gymnasium, Saitama.

The tournament was organized by the Vietnamese Badminton Association in Japan (BAVIJA), a member of the Vietnam-Japan Sports and Culture Exchange Association (FAVIJA), under the sponsorship of the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan.

The badminton tournament created a fun-filled environment while connecting Vietnamese expats in Japan.

More than 300 amateur players from 21 Vietnamese badminton clubs studying, working and living across the Land of the Rising Sun, along with Japanese athletes from regions such as Kanto, Kansai, Tokai, Chubu, Hokkaido, came to participate in 7 rounds.

Attending and cheering for the tournament, Ambassador Nguyen Duc Minh stressed that this sports tournament has a great role and significance in promoting the development of sports activities. It also contributed to the overall success of a series of events celebrating the 50th anniversary of Vietnam-Japan relations.

This sports tournament is not only a sports playground, but it is also an opportunity for Vietnamese people living far from home to come closer together, share, and help each other.

The Vietnamese community had an exciting day when witnessing fiery matches.

Hundreds of overseas Vietnamese and local people came to the stadium to cheer, creating a vibrant and cozy international exchange space, and strengthening the close relationship between overseas Vietnamese and local people.

According to BAVIJA President Bui Duc Binh, head of the organizing committee, this is the first time the Vietnamese badminton tournament in Japan has been organized on such a large scale. It is also the first time a tournament brings together mostly Vietnamese and Japanese amateur players from all regions of Japan.

Meanwhile, Do Duc Nhat, a player participating in the tournament, shared that they had been carefully prepared and eagerly waiting for this tournament for a long time. They can compete with both Japanese athletes and some foreign athletes in Japan, so the matches became really exciting and dramatic.

Duong Thi Lien, former head coach of the Vietnam badminton team was invited by the organizers to attend as a professional advisor. Lien could not hide her excitement and said she was overwhelmed by the positive energy of young Vietnamese people in Japan.

Despite the field conditions and long distance, they all share the same passion to come together to show strong solidarity. "It reminds me of my memories of when I was a badminton player," she highlighted.

It was a chance to strengthen the solidarity among the Vietnamese community there.
