Korean Constructional Enterprises Discuss New Amendments to Vietnam's Construction Law

On the afternoon of December 9, 2021, in Hanoi, the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Vietnam in collaboration with the Korean Commercial Arbitration Committee (KCAB) and the Korean Construction Association in Vietnam held a workshop on "New Contents in the New Amendments to Vietnam Construction Law and Constructional Development Projects in Vietnam." The workshop aimed to clarifying construction and zoning issues for foreign investors.
The Korean Embassy took great strides to protect the international audience from the virus, by following effective anti-Covid procedures. Meeting these standards, the workshop members were able to safely meet and discuss foreign investment opportunities in Vietnam.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of South Korea to Vietnam Park No Wan delivered a welcome speech to the workshop. In his speech, Ambassador Park, with his experience of observing Vietnam's development for more than 10 years, says that Vietnam's economy is still developing and he believes that Vietnam is the "land of opportunity" for Korean businesses in the world.

"In Vietnam's socio-economic development strategy for the period 2021-2030, in addition to building infrastructure as the main pillar for economic growth, the Vietnamese Government also sets targets for implementation of diverse urban and industrial park development projects, I believe that we, Korean investors will have more cooperation activities with Vietnam's in the fields of construction and transportation", the Ambassador emphasized.
The Korean Ambassador also highlighted that 2022 was a historic year, marking the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Korea. He said that up to now, the two countries Korea and Vietnam in the field of economic cooperation have become an inseparable economic bloc. The cooperation relationship between Vietnam and Korea is not only a comprehensive partnership, but also become even friendlier over the years.
In keeping with the level and size of the bilateral relationship between the two countries, the Embassy of the Republic of Korea is constantly trying to find new projects through government-level talks as well as active engagement to look for development projects that businesses of the two countries can conduct cooperation.
The workshop was contributed the participation of two Vietnamese and Korean lawyers from the famous Korean law office - Kim & Chang Law Office, including Mr. Le Ngoc Tuan and Im Byeong Woo with the presentation of the International Arbitration Center, Korea Commercial Arbitration Commission. During the presentation, Lawyer Im Byeong Woo made his presentation from the Korean bridge and was connected online to the conference hall to share about the legal systems in construction in Vietnam and provide basically legal advice and guidance for Korean businesses to operate in accordance with Vietnamese law.
Also in the workshop, Director of Hai Duong Department of Construction Nguyen Van Doan, gave a presentation with the theme "Planning and Urban Construction Development Projects in Hai Duong Province". In which, as one of the localities attracting the most investment enterprises from Korea, Doan expressed the local's more preferential and preeminent policies as well as the commitment and desire to more and more Korean investors in Hai Duong.

The workshop also received contributions from Mr. Seo Ho Sik, Director of Bitexco with the topic "Introduction to Bitexco and the complex urban projects as well as the high-tech industry of the future," Mr. Lee Myeong Seok from VTK Industrial Park Investment and Development Co., Ltd. with an introduction about the bidding packages to build green industrial zones in Hung Yen province.
