Labor Medal Awarded To Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Association

The Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Associationwas awarded the second-class labor medal by the State President for its excellent achievement in Vietnam, Cambodia relations.
The association recently organized the fifth Congress for the 2021-2026 term in a ceremony in Hanoi.
Nguyen Thi Thanh, deputy head of the Central Organizing Committee, was elected as the President of the association for the new term.
The report at the congress showed that, for the 2015-2021 term, the association has achieved outstanding work results such as expanding and developing the association's organization to the grassroots level; organizing large-scale and meaningful activities major holidays of the two countries; cooperating with partners to exchange experiences in building the association's organization, as well many activities with diverse forms and rich contents.

The congress elected an Executive Board consisting of 140 members; the Leadership Board consists of one president, 10 vice presidents and a general secretary. The association's Inspection Committee consists of three members.
Nguyen Thi Thanh, deputy Head of the Central Organization Committee, was elected as the President of the association for the new term.
During the new tenure, the association will work closely with the Cambodia - Vietnam Friendship Association to raise public awareness of bilateral traditional friendship, and jointly celebrate major anniversaries such as the 55th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties and the liberation of Cambodia from Pol Pot's genocidal regime.
The association will also consolidate its chapters, especially those in border provinces, districts, communes and townships; offer support to Vietnamese students in Cambodia and Cambodian students in Vietnam; hold cultural and art exchanges; improve the operation efficiency of the Vietnam - Cambodia Business Club as well as charity activities for Cambodians of Vietnamese origin and people in border areas.

Bui Thi Minh Hoai, secretary of the Party Central Committee, highly appreciated the association's activities in the past term, making an important contribution to enhancing mutual understanding between the peoples of the two countries, and firmly consolidating the relationship between the two countries.
Associations at all levels from central to local levels have engaged in various activities with profound social influence.
"I was very impressed when I heard about the close and intimate relationships between Vietnamese adoptive parents and Cambodian students studying in Vietnam" Hoai said.
Hoai emphasized that the association needed to pay attention to and focus on three specific work contents.
Firstly, the associations at all levels need to continue to study and thoroughly grasp the views of the Party, and promote the role of the Party, while at the same time take advantage of the attention and direction of the Party Committees and authorities at all levels to successfully implement the set goals and make new breakthroughs in cooperation and development.
Secondly, the association needs to promote the role of people-to-people diplomacy, and closely coordinate with the Cambodia - Vietnam Friendship Association to do better in information and communication.
Thirdly, it must strengthen exchanges in culture, art, health, education, sports, and exchanges with the young generation in order to contribute to strengthening solidarity, friendship, mutual trust and understanding between the peoples of the two countries, actively contributing to the building of a strong and prosperous ASEAN community.
Hoai also believes that under the leadership of the Executive Committee of the new term, associations at all levels will continue to make many new achievements, ensuring a worthy contribution to consolidating and strengthening the traditional friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia.

"The two countries' senior leaders are always interested in consolidating the solidarity, friendship and cooperation between the two countries. Therefore, our two associations need to continue implementing the cooperation as signed in December 2015 to cooperate and promote information sharing and among the two countries in a tradition of solidarity, friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia, preventing false propaganda," she said
"Through the efforts of the two associations, we will contribute to strengthening the tradition of solidarity, friendship and cooperation, and create favorable conditions for people to participate in social, commercial, economic and cultural activities."

The Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Association was honored to receive the the Labour Order, second class while its 18 individuals were awarded with the Friendship Order of the Cambodian Government.
The Presidium of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations awarded six medals and 10 certificates of merit; the Central Committee of the Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Association presented awards and gratitude to 22 units and individuals.
