Lao, Cambodian Youth Teams Up with Vietnamese Cadets

The Ho Chi Minh City Veterans Association (HCMCVA), in collaboration with the Military School of Military Region 7, organized an exchange program for veterans in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnamese families, Lao and Cambodian students, officers and cadets of the Military School of Military Region 7 on July 28.

During the exchange, Lieutenant General Trieu Xuan Hoa, Hero of the Armed Forces, former Commander of Military Region 7, and former Deputy Head of the Central Highlands Steering Committee, shared his memories with Lao and Cambodian students of the heroic times of Vietnam and Cambodia, and his years of living, fighting, and helping the neighboring countries escape genocide.

In addition, the students participated in various activities, including gift-giving, visiting the barracks, visiting the traditional house, engaging in cultural exchanges, and playing traditional games.

Through these activities, Vietnamese, Lao, and Cambodian students, along with the officers and cadets of the Military School of Military Region 7, had the chance to learn about the traditions of solidarity and friendship with Vietnamese volunteer soldiers performing international duties in Laos and Cambodia. They also learned about the traditions of building, fighting, and growing the Military School of Military Region 7.

"This is my first time participating in the program. I made friends with many students from Vietnam and Cambodia. We exchanged information and shared our study and life experiences. This will be beneficial for my studies and personal development in the future," said Sivongsa Souly, a Laotian student.

"This program has fostered a strong bond and spirit of solidarity in our international student community and further enhanced the friendship between the three countries of Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia."

Houn Leanghour, a Cambodian student studying at Nguyen Tat Thanh University said that this was a special occasion for students to learn about military history and traditions, thereby deeply feeling the solidarity and friendship between Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia.

The Cambodian student also extended gratitude to the Vietnamese families for their companionship, care, and support; acknowledging the affection of foster parents, which has given Lao and Cambodian students a second family in Vietnam.
