Liverpool predicted lineup vs Burnley: Preview

Liverpool had a fantastic return back to the Premier League, with a dominant 3-0 victory over Norwich at Carrow Road. Mohammed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Diogo Jota, all were on the scoresheet for the Kops, as they now face Burnley, who are notorious for their stiff defensive performances. Jurgen Klopp would be hoping to enter the clash against Burnley with the same mentality against Norwich, where Liverpool started attacking since the whistle blew, as they look to fight to win the title back.

Liverpool were massively boosted against Norwich by the return to competitive action of defenders Virgil van Dijk and Joel Matip, while the fit-again Joe Gomez was an unused substitute alongside £35million summer signing Ibrahima Konate.

Kostas Tsimikas made his first Premier League start at left-back with the usually ever-present Andy Robertson nursing an ankle ligament injury that will keep him sidelined once more at the weekend.

Curtis Jones will be back in contention following a head injury, while captain Jordan Henderson and Thiago Alcantara will also hope to be involved after playing in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Aston Villa on Sunday.

Klopp - who played Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and James Milner as his midfield three against Norwich, with Fabinho introduced on the hour mark - faces a difficult selection decision in the final third with Jota and Firmino both among the goals, with the Portuguese getting the nod alongside Salah and Sadio Mane from the start at Carrow Road.

As for Burnley, slow progress on the transfer front - they have signed only Nathan Collins and Wayne Hennessey thus far - means their squad has a very familiar look for a sixth consecutive season in the Premier League.

Midfielder Dale Stephens and defender Kevin Long are the club’s only confirmed injury absentees at present.

Liverpool vs Burnley: Prediction

Liverpool are back to their once fortress, Anfield, and are expected to beat the Burnley side, who has beaten Liverpool at Anfield last season in January. Liverpool would be out for revenge, as they continue to build up their title charge, after a good performance against Norwich, are a threat to Burnley, who lost their lead and went on to lose against Brighton. Burnley beating Liverpool would be an early season upset, as both sides look to enter the game to gain all 3 points.

Liverpool vs Burnley: 2-0

Liverpool vs Burnley: Betting tips

Liverpool Win-to-Nil

Liverpool are the big favourites to win this game and we're backing the hosts to secure a clean sheet along with all 3pts on Saturday. The hosts have won four of their last six games against Burnley, keeping clean sheets in their last two victories over the Clarets. Liverpool have won four of their last six matches in all competitions and have kept three clean sheets during that period.

Under 2.5 Goals

This game could end up being a fairly low-scoring affair as two of the last three meetings between Liverpool and Burnley have produced under 2.5 goals. Under 2.5 goals have also been scored in three of Liverpool's last six matches and in three of Burnley's last five outings, so you can see why we haven't predicted a high-scoring game on Saturday.

2-0 to Liverpool

As far as a final scoreline is concerned, we're backing the hosts to run out 2-0 winners in their own backyard. Burnley haven't conceded more than two goals in any of their last five fixtures and will head to Anfield with defending in mind. Liverpool have scored at least two goals in four of their last six fixtures, so you can see why we've picked a final scoreline of 2-0.

Liverpool vs Burnley odds

Liverpool are 1/6 to win on Saturday, with Burnley 16/1 and the draw priced at 6/1.
