Binh Dinh Province and Ho Chi Minh City recently held a meeting on the 235th anniversary of the National Day of the French Republic. According to information provided at the event, coperation between Binh Dinh, Ho Chi Minh City, and French localities is increasingly developing in many fields.

At the meeting organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organizations in coordination with the Vietnam - France Friendship Association of Ho Chi Minh City, Chairman of the Vietnam - France Friendship Association in Ho Chi Minh City Nguyen Thi Ngoc Dung reviewed the achievements in Vietnam - France relations in various fields.

Accordingly, over 38 localities at all levels in France and 18 provinces and cities in Vietnam have so far cooperated in 240 decentralized projects, mostly on medicine, economics, education, heritage conservation, Francophone community, rural development, and urban development.

In particular, Ho Chi Minh City has established twin relations with Lyon and the Rhône-Alpes region. The Rhône-Alpes region has implemented quite diverse projects to support Ho Chi Minh City in urban planning, health, education, and vocational training. Lyon city signed a cooperation agreement with Ho Chi Minh in priority areas including preserving and promoting heritage values, urban planning and development, and urban transportation. Among those, cooperation in urban lighting stands out with five artistic lighting projects completed in Ho Chi Minh City.

Consul General of the French Republic in Ho Chi Minh City Emmanuelle Pavillon-Grosser expressed her joy that many people in Ho Chi Minh City speak French and love France. The Francophone community is a bridge for the increasingly good friendship between France and Vietnam, especially in the context of the upcoming Francophone Summit in Villers-Cotterêts, France.

She said, this year France will welcome 100 more Vietnamese students receiving French scholarships, raising the total number of Vietnamese students studying and working in France to exceed 6,000. Vietnam is the third largest recipient of scholarships from France. Vietnam and France constantly promote cooperation in all fields: economics, science, culture, and art.

At the meeting organized by the Binh Duong Union of Provincial Friendship Organizations and the Binh Duong Vietnam - France Friendship Association on July 12, Le Cong Nhuong, Chairman of the Binh Duong Vietnam - France Friendship Association said: Over the past 50 years, overcoming all historical upheavals, the friendly relations and good cooperation between Vietnam and France have become increasingly stronger, deeper, with comprehensive, rich and effective cooperation in all fields. With that valuable cooperation, Vietnam has now become a dynamically developing Asian country with active international integration. The two sides have established the framework of "Traditional friendship, comprehensive, long-term cooperation and trust" towards a strong and strategic relationship.

Namely, the International Center for Interdisciplinary Science and Education in Quy Nhon city led by Professor Tran Thanh Van (Chairman of Meet Vietnam Association) and the Scientific Discovery Center founded and put into operation by Professor Le Kim Ngoc, attracting the attention of people in the province and tourists nationwide.

Representative of scientists and French expatriates, Professor Dumarchez Jacques, Vice President of the Vietnam Meeting Association in France, expressed his honor and emotion when attending the French National Day in Binh Dinh. He and a number of enthusiastic French scientists will accompany Professor Tran Thanh Van and Binh Dinh province in activities to stimulate passion and scientific discovery for the young generation of Binh Dinh.
