Local Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Association Fosters Dak Nong-Mondulkiri Ties

In the first 6 months of 2024, Dak Nong's Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Association has effectively built and implemented a people-to-people foreign affairs work plan, which is a bridge of solidarity and friendship between Dak Nong and Mondulkiri province.
This is information given at the preliminary conference of the first 6 months of the year, implementing directions and tasks for the last 6 months of the year organized by Dak Nong's Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Association on June 21.

According to the report, in the first 6 months of 2024, all levels of the association have actively coordinated with party committees, authorities, and border stations to mobilize officials, members, and residents to raise awareness and actively respond to the ‘All People Participate in Defending National Territorial Sovereignty and Border Security’ movements. At the same time, cultivating friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam - Cambodia in general, and Dak Nong - Mondulkiri in particular.
Association members at all levels have well-implemented foreign affairs and friendship activities with diverse and practical contents and forms. The friendship association coordinated with Dak Nong Community College and related sectors to implement the “Nurturing the seeds of friendship” movement by reaching an agreement between the two provinces to send children from Mondulkiri province to study at the college.
On the occasion of the Vietnamese traditional Tet, the association visited and presented 60 gifts worth VND 48 million (USD 1.880) to overseas Vietnamese people living in Mondulkiri. The Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Association of Dak Song district also donated gifts and computers to the Cambodian district and armed forces along the border.
Meanwhile, the provincial border guards regularly visit and give gifts with a total value of VND 80 million (USD 3.140), maintaining solidarity with Cambodian border forces; monthly supporting 12 poor students under the "Elevate Children to School" program with each child receiving VND 500,000 (USD 19,6) per month.
In the coming time, communications will be promoted to raise border residents’ legal awareness and knowledge, encourage them to well comply with national border security rules and regulations, and strengthen the tradition of solidarity and friendship between the two provinces and two countries.
The association will also maintain foreign affairs activities from the province to the grassroots, as well as border stations in building a borderline of peace, friendship, and mutual development. Its members at all levels will continue to consolidate and develop strong organizations; along with promoting activities to assist disadvantaged Vietnamese people who are living in Mondulkiri province.
Located to the south of the Central Highlands region, Dak Nong shares a 141km border section with Mondulkiri. The province has so far worked with the Cambodian side to organize numerous cultural and people-to-people exchange activities, including New Year visits, free medical check-ups, assistance to poor pupils and provision of medical supplies, food and necessities during the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic. |
