Coming into the new year with a roar, countries celebrating the Lunar New Year have showcased many interesting statues of the king of the jungle.

Singapore

Covid-19 or not, the annual festive light-up in Chinatown (Singapore) goes on. This year, the Year of the Tiger is being welcomed with the theme "Usher in a Roaring New Year".

The light-up, organised by the Chinatown Festivals Organising Committee and supported by the Singapore Tourism Board, had concept input from Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) students.

China

The tiger statue around China looks chubby, lovely and very friendly. Visitors commented that the cat-look-alike tiger invites people to take selfies.

This year, Pink Tiger is also a hot hit. The name Pink Tiger reminds everyone of the famous cartoon character pink leopard in Pink Panther.

You can be the center of the frame and pose with pink tiger for your social media accounts at this location. The color red is usually associated with Lunar New Year, but so is the color pink. It symbolizes happiness and love, also the heart and flowers represent affection, gifts, and presents floating in in the new year.

The tiger from Shandong (China) is very different from the rest with cute roaring expressions.

In addition, there are flowers and fireworks decorated on the body with bright colors combined with yellow lights that make anyone passing by have to look up.

Korea

Seen above is an LED art display set up on the facade of the SMTown COEX building in southern Seoul, celebrating the 2022 Year of the Black Tiger. The giant tiger 3D illusion was exhibited outdoors for people to see while passing by on the street, amid the tightened social distancing measures here.

The convention center expects the lifelike tiger image to deliver a message of hope to the public ahead of the New Year.

An inflatable tiger 8 m tall on Dec. 23 attracts onlookers at the Seoul COEX Event Space in the Samseong-dong neighborhood of the capital's Gangnam-gu District. It has been here for almost a month, catching passengers' attention because of its massive size and shape.

The Year of the Tiger under the Asian zodiac is only a few days away so around the mall complex will expect even more tiger displays, entertaining the busy crowd of Seoul.

On Nguyen Hue street, a considerable number of tiger displays were installed on the road to represent this year's success will be as magnificent as the king of the jungle.

At the beginning of the road, two tigers will be placed to welcome them. Then, visitors must walk past a forest before being able to observe the main mascot of the floral road. The forest is decorated in a way that will help people distance themselves from others. This forest is considered a “miniature green lung” which can create a shed for visitors.

Nguyen Hue Floral Road will open from 7 pm on January 29 to 5 pm on February 4 to serve residents and travelers who want to roam around during Tet Holiday.

In different cities across Vietnam, you will find many tiger parades and displays, all very different in colors and aesthetic, from cute cartoonish to abstract and monotone.
