Lunar New Year celebrations at Hanoi
(VNF) - Tết Nguyên Đán or simply Tết (Vietnamese Lunar New Year) is the most festive time of year in Vietnam. How are you going to celebrate biggest holiday of the year? Check out our suggestions below.
1.Light Music Festival

Bao Son Paradise Park
Km5+200, Le Trong Tan Street, An Khanh, Hoai Duc, Hanoi
The entire park will be turned into a Light City. Carefully-crafted in 6 months by hundreds of artisans, the Light City will feature about 100 sculptures in a variety of shapes including windmill, glass shoes, flamingos, orchestra, angel, swan, pumpkin, dolphin,…, creating a picturesque fairy land for festival-goers.
On the main days of the festivals (Feb 18 – 20 and on weekends, the park will be opened until 9 pm. The Remix Night, featuring famous artists such as Duc Phuc, Yen Ngoc, magician Nguyen Viet Huy, the Grammy dance crew,… will create a true festival with bustling music and amazing light shows.
As a crucial part of any festival, the Asian Food Fair will introduce a variety of dishes from Korean, Chinese, Thai, Japanese, Indian, and from the three regions of Vietnam.
Other tourist attractions and activities at the park include a carnival parade, a spring dance performance, the spring flowers valley and the safari.
2.New Year Book Street

19/12 Book Street, Tran Hung Dao Ward, Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi
In celebration of the Year of the Dog 2018, a Book Street event will take place from 18 to 25 Feb 2018 on the 19/12 Book Street in Hanoi. A variety of books (children, literary, economic, technology, foreign-language,… books) will be displayed and introduced at the event.
The 16 publishing houses that are operating on the Book Street will display books outside the stores. Other publishing houses and book companies will display their products in the middle and on the two ends of the street. The New Year 2018 (Gregorian & Lunar) journal issues by government press agencies will also be introduced at the event.
Other activities such as book signing, book reading, discussions with authors, discussions about calligraphy art, painting corner for kids, … also will be organised.
3. “Happy Year of the Dog”: The Culture of Binh Phuoc
24 and 25 Feb 2018, 9 am – 5.30 pm

Come experience the new year traditions of the southern province of Binh Phuoc where nature is untouched by human. The sound of gongs, the melody of folk songs and traditional instrument here are considered the soul of cultural life of the southern people, which contains hidden meanings and beauty. The southern traditional dishes will be a big surprise to visitors. The event is an opportunity to experience the Tết traditions of both the South and the North of Vietnam while being in Hanoi. 4.New Year’s Eve Firework Displays in Hanoi
The Hanoi People Committee is glad to announce the 31 locations for firework displays on Lunar New Year’s Eve (Feb 15) in Hanoi. Each show will last for 15 minutes (from 0 am until 0.15 am on).
