Prenn Falls is a popular tourist attraction on Lien Khuong Highway, Ward 3, Dalat City, Lam Dong Province. The distance from the city center to the falls is just over 12 kilometers, and the journey offers a beautiful and wide road.
The name of the falls has its roots in the Cham language. From the 15th to 17th centuries, this area served as a boundary occupied by the Cham people in the region.
According to local folklore, the original name of Prenn Falls was Prenh. Interestingly, in the Cham language, Prenh translates to "bitter eggplant" in English. Over time, perhaps due to a change in pronunciation, its name became Prenn. This change might have occurred due to various linguistic influences and the passage of time.
The peculiar name "Bitter eggplant" is associated with Prenn Falls because of the abundant wild eggplants in the upstream areas. These eggplants, when ripe, turn yellow, resembling bitter tomatoes. The local villagers would gather and bring them home to cook delicious dishes.
Datanla Waterfall

Datanla used to be called "Da Tam N'nha" by the native people. According to the K’Ho folklore, in the old times, fairies usually came there to take a bath. But people did not know there was a stream under the leaves. When native people discovered the water, they named this place "Da Tam N'nha", which meant that "there was water under leaves". Later, the word “Da Tam N'nha" was pronounced "Datania" and then changed to "Datanla".
At the foot of the waterfall, Datanla stream flows slowly through cliffs and then flows onto a deep hole called a deadly abyss between two vertical cliffs with a height of over 40 m.

Bao Dai is just one name of the waterfall as it is also called Jraiblian by Churu ethnic people living there, which means high rock waterfall. King Bao Dai (1913-1997), the last emperor of the Nguyen Dynasty (1802-1945), often stopped off at the cascade to rest during his hunting trips. That is the reason why it was named after the king.
Travelers to the site often spend time observing the mesmerizing cascade and age-old trees covering cliffs along the path leading to the foot of the waterfall. They have to weave through such cliffs to get to the foot of the fall. However, the scenery along the path is so spectacular that it prompts most travelers to take as many photos as they can. Visitors can also listen to birds singing and take delight in the fresh air in the pine forest they are in.
