Mountain in southern Vietnam named national tourism site

Sam Moutain, a popular heritage site which towers in a Mekong Delta province, has been inscribed in a national list of tourism destinations.

(VNF) - A heritage site located in a Mekong Delta province which is popular among local and Vietnamese expat pilgrims was recently included in a national list of tourism destinations.

Local authorities have been tasked with conducting research on and zoning the site in accordance with current regulations to tap into its tourism potentials.

Located in Vinh Te commune of Chau Doc city in An Giang Province, Sam Mountain boasts picturesque landscape as well as various architectural and cultural highlights.

The Via Ba Chua Xu festival, which is dedicated to honoring the holy lady of Sam Mountain, was recently named a national intangible heritage.

The event, which became a national event in 2001, runs annually from the 22nd to the 27th of the fourth month of the lunar calendar, and draws approximately 4 million visitors and pilgrims each year./.
