According to the announcement of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Assembly, at the invitation of National Assembly Chairwoman Vuong Dinh Hue and President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Mozambique, Esperanca Laurinda Francisco Nhiuane Bias led the delegation will pay an official visit to Vietnam from June 18 to 23.

In September 2021, within the framework of attending the fifth World Congress of Speakers of Parliament in Austria, NA Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue had a meeting with the Mozambican Assembly Speaker.

According to Quochoi.vn, at the meeting, the two NA Chairs shared the same assessment of the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation between the two countries that have developed well over the past time.

Chairman Hue affirmed that the State and people of Vietnam always attach great importance to promoting the traditional friendly cooperative relationship with Mozambique, one of Vietnam’s important cooperation partners in Africa.

Hue thanked Mozambique for paying attention and creating favorable conditions for Vietnamese medical and educational experts working in Mozambique. Vietnam is willing to continue to offer scholarships to Mozambican students, strengthen cooperation with medical experts, and share experiences in healthcare development and community health care.

In early this June, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee Nguyen Phu Trong affirmed during his online talks with President of the Liberation Front of Mozambique (FRELIMO) and President of the Republic of Mozambique Filipe Jacinto Nyusi that Mozambique is among the African countries with which Vietnam prioritizes promoting relations.

He also proposed measures to enhance cooperation between the two Parties and countries in the time ahead.

Vietnam is a priority in Mozambique’s foreign policy, Nyusi said, expressing his hope for stronger cooperation and friendship between the two countries and Parties.

The leaders shared the view that Vietnam and Mozambique should optimize their strengths to support each other, and tighten and deepen the bilateral ties.

They also agreed to strengthen cooperation between the two Parties, step-up meetings and exchanges through Party, Government and National Assembly channels, as well as people-to-people exchanges.

The two sides should make use of their potential and strengths to boost collaboration in politics-diplomacy, education-training, tourism, culture and people-to-people exchange, while intensifying their coordination at regional and international multilateral forums, for the sake of their people, and for peace, stability, and prosperity.

Bilateral diplomatic ties were set up, June 25, 1975, which was also when Mozambique declared its independence.

Relations between the two ruling parties, the CPV and the FRELIMO, have continually been tightened and served as a firm foundation for the increasingly substantive cooperation in various fields, from investment, telecommunications, and trade to agriculture, healthcare, and education.

Notably, Movitel, a USD-600-million joint venture between Vietnam’s telecoms group Viettel and the SPI company of Mozambique, has been operating fruitfully, thus contributing to local socio-economic development.
