(VNF) - On October 15th, the final match of Viettel World Cup 2016 between MyTel from Myanmar and Viettel Hanoi from Vietnam ended at Viettel Sports Center, Thach That district on the outskirts of Hanoi.
The tournament, which is organised by the Vietnam Military-run Telecommunications Group, is held every two years for its staff worldwide.
Notably, the number of international footballers (135/272 players) has increased three-fold from the 2014’s event.
MyTel team, in its very first participation, cruised to a 3-0 win over Viettel Hanoi team, taking the Cup and a USD10,000 in cash prize. The Vietnamese representative once again became the first runner-up.
“It is really an international sports party. The participation of international teams is so interesting. This is Viettel’s culture. In future, the event will be rotated and hosted in the markets which Viettel do business. Besides, it is a good forum for Viettel’s officers in both domestic and international markets to exchange, introduce unique features of their cultural life, and refresh themselves after hard working hours”, said Colonel Hoang Son, Viettel Vice General Director.
The final round of this football festival took place from October 4th -15th, attracting a field of 17 teams from 11 countries such as Timor-Leste, Laos, Cambodia, Peru and Myanmar on three continents.
