When it comes to tourism in the northern mountains of Vietnam, many tourists will immediately think of Moc Chau, Ha Giang, or Lao Cai. However, there is a place that is also worth exploring and visiting, which is Tuyen Quang. Specifically, a place in Tuyen Quang is considered an ideal place to have a trip to discover nature, but not many people know about it. That's Na Hang.

Na Hang is the name of a district in Tuyen Quang. It is located farthest from the city center compared to other districts, the distance is longer than 100km. Basically, Na Hang is considered a highland district, but out of a total area of 15,000 ha, there is 8,000 ha of water surface here. Therefore, visitors will be able to admire the charming scenery of the mountains and water and discover the cultural features of 12 ethnic groups.

What's in this unspoiled land of the Northeast?

Many tourists have nicknamed Na Hang the wild fairyland of the Northeast. There are many reasons for this name. The first is because the geographical location is somewhat remote from the city center. The second is the beautiful natural scenery. And finally, according to many visitors, there is almost no internet and no phone signal here.

In Na Hang, visitors can choose from many places to visit and experience. Some tourist destinations that they can visit include Pac Ta mountain, Coc Vai mountain, Nang Tien cliff, Nui Doi underground, Khuoi Nhi waterfall, and the valleys of pear and plum flowers. Another very famous experience in Na Hang is paragliding. Paragliding is popular in the Hong Thai commune. Every year, this place holds a festival called Hong Thai Paragliding Festival.

Pac Ta Mountain

If Quan Ba has the Couple mountain, in Na Hang there is Pac Ta mountain, also considered a symbol. This mountain is located next to Na Hang-Lam Binh ecological lake. The image of the mountain is reflected in the lake which creates a very charming scene.

Loc Minh Tan, former Head of the Culture and Information Department of Na Hang district, said that when the natives here see Pac Ta mountain, they feel like they see their hometown, like seeing their own home.

This mountain is also known as an elephant mountain because, from some angles, the shape of the mountain looks like a giant elephant. At some other angles, it has the shape of a wine bottle.

To fully enjoy the beauty of Pac Ta mountain, visitors can choose to walk around the ecological lake area, row a boat on the lake, or visit the Pac Ta temple right at the foot of the mountain. The temple worships the fiancee of General Chieu Van Vuong - Tran Nhat Duat. After many changes in location and restoration, in 2008, the temple was rebuilt here. By 2009, it was ranked a National Monument by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism.

Mo Waterfall

Mo Waterfall is located in the middle of Na Hang-Lam Binh Nature Reserve. The waterfall is about 2km long, the highest floor is about 20m. As described by many tourists, from afar, the waterfall looks like a piece of soft, white silk flowing into the Na Hang ecological lake.

According to the information page of Tuyen Quang Province Tourism, the waterfall is also associated with the legend of a woman waiting for her husband. Every year, Mo waterfall welcomes hundreds of thousands of tourists.

Hong Thai terraced fields

In Na Hang, there is a very beautiful place to see terraced fields, which is the Hong Thai commune. The image of terraced fields in the rainy season and the main rice season has become one of the most unique tourism products here.

The whole Hong Thai commune currently has a total area of 82 hectares of terraced rice fields, stretching over many villages and along inter-commune roads. The terraced fields are usually very narrow, but each hill usually has about 10 to 20 fields. In some places, there are more than 30 steps, and the average height of each plot is from 1.5m - 2m. Due to the high mountains, the fields are surrounded by forests, and at the junction between the two hills, there are often flowing streams. This is the main source of water for the crop.

The field sometimes lies in the middle of the mountain, close to the road. Sometimes they connect the top of the mountain down to the stream. These fields spread across the hills, from foot to top. They connect one hill to another. The combination of these images creates a heavenly beauty.

According to many tourists, the best time to visit the terraced fields in Hong Thai, Na Hang is during the nine-month rice season from September to the end of October every year.

Pear blossom season

In Tuyen Quang in general or Na Hang in particular, pear flowers are considered one of the most beautiful flowers. The pear blossom season is also the season that many people, including locals as well as tourists, look forward to in the year.

Pear flowers are pure white. They are very small, the size of which is somewhat similar to cherry blossoms or apricot flowers. Previously, the pear blossom season in Na Hang was not known much. But since more and more tourists come to Na Hang as well as Tuyen Quang, images of pear flowers appear more on social networks and attract more visitors.

From mid-January to mid-March is also the best time to see pear blossoms. Visitors can see pear flowers on hillsides, in valleys, or in the gardens of the Dao Tien people. Taking pictures with pear flowers while wearing traditional ethnic costumes is definitely an experience that everyone should try.

Na Hang is now gradually developing into a hot ecotourism and experience tourism destination. However, district leaders said, along with tourism development, environmental protection must still be ensured to preserve those great natural values.
