Number of International Visitors in July Sets Post-Pandemic Record

The country welcomed nearly 1.04 million foreign visitors this month, up 6.5% from June and 194.6 % against the same period last year, according to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism .
In the first seven months of this year, Vietnam served nearly 6.6 million international visitors, a year-on-year rise of 592.8%, fulfilled up to 83% of the yearly target, the authority said.

In the seven-month period, the Republic of Korea (RoK) was the largest source of tourists with 1.9 million arrivals, accounting for one-third of the total international visitors to Vietnam. It was followed by China with 738,000 visitors and the US, 445,000.

Among the top ten markets, four are in Northeast Asia, including the RoK, China, Taiwan (China), and Japan. Another three were in Southeast Asia - Thailand, Malaysia, and Cambodia. Australia and India ranked ninth and tenth, respectively. In Europe, the UK, France, and Germany were the three biggest markets.
Many major markets of the Vietnamese tourism saw growth in July, such as Taiwan (31.3%), Japan (15%), China (14%), the US (7%) and the RoK (6%).
The industry tourists are also welcomed 12.5 million domestic in July, and 76.5 million in the seven months, with total revenue of VND416.6 trillion ($17.58 billion).

Meanwhile, the number of tourists to Hanoi in the first seven months is expected to reach 14.7 million, an increase of 38.7% compared to the same period in 2022, the municipal Department of Tourism reported.
Of the figure, the number of international arrivals is forecasted to hit 2.43 million, up 5.7 times year on year while domestic tourists are estimated at 12.3 million, a rise of 20.6%.
Total revenue from tourism in the period is approximated at VND53.7 trillion VND, up 68.3% year-on-year.
The World Tourism Organization forecast that global tourist arrivals will recover to the pre-Covid-19 level by 2024 at the earliest./.
