Over 130,000 Tons of Rice To Be Allocated To 24 Pandemic-Hit Provinces

Vietnamese Government has decided to allocate more than 130,000 tons of rice to people in 24 provinces and cities affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The government has approved the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs' proposal to provide 130,175.67 tons of rice to more than 8.6 million people in 24 provinces and cities affected by the Covid-19 epidemic.

Specifically, HCM City will receive 71,104.9 tons of rice; Dak Lak province 534.3 tons; Dak Nong province 577.1 tons; Dong Thap province 5,883.4 tons; Tay Ninh 336.2 tons; Ca Mau 2,862.3 tons; Vinh Long 2,103.1 tons; Long An 807 tons; Kien Giang 2,278.1 tons; Tra Vinh 1,738.9 tons;

Khanh Hoa 2,000 tons; Binh Duong 11,325 tons; Ben Tre 2,408.2 tons; Binh Dinh 1,000,5 tons; An Giang 3,362.2 tons; Nghe An 341.1 tons; Tien Giang 3,006.2 tons; Dong Nai 3,128.5 tons; Ba Ria-Vung Tau 2,283.4 tons; Phu Yen 1,852.6 tons; Da Nang 1,630.6 tons; Can Tho 5,015.4 tons; Binh Thuan 4,018.4 tons; and Ninh Thuan 577.2 tons.

The local authorities will be responsible for the accuracy of the reported data and provide support for people in need in a timely manner.

After this decision is implemented, if the people still face difficulties, provinces and cities can send requests to the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs and the Ministry of Finance to submit to the Prime Minister’s approval for further assistance.

More than 8.6 million people in the 24 provinces and cities in Vietnam need emergency food relief due to the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the Ministry of Labour, Invalid and Social Affairs.

On August 16, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh agreed to offer more than 4,000 tonnes of rice from the national reserve to support pandemic-hit people in three provinces of Binh Phuoc, Bac Lieu and Soc Trang.
