More than 2,500 athletes from nearly 50 countries and territories worldwide have registered to join the Hanoi International Heritage Marathon 2018 which will take place in the capital city on October 21, heard a press conference.

Hanoi Heritage Marathon is a connection of modern day sports activities with the glorious, heroic and heritage past of Hanoi. It is a perfect flat course, which will lead you to discover The Old Hanoi through its old streets.

This is the first marathon run through the old town so that the athletes have a new and interesting experience when it comes to historical values, cultural values, the lives of Hanoians as well as modern presence through each running step.

The marathon is the first of its kind running through the city’s most stunning roads, tourist attractions of Hoan Kiem (Returned Sword) Lake, Long Bien bridge and West Lake, together with other architectural works closely connected with the capital city’s development.

Athletes will compete in four categories, namely 42km marathon, 21km half marathon, 10km run, and 5km run.

Prizes worth VND 400 million (USD 17,000) will be awarded for the winners at the race.

According to Do Chi Nghia, Editor-In-Chief of the Dai bieu Nhan dan newspaper and head of the organising board, the event will help popularise the benefits of marathon to people from all walks of life, and nudge Hanoi’s heritages closer to international friends.

T-shirts, BIB, program leaflet will be provided on the day before Race Day at Start Venue.

There will be bottle water and electrolytic drinks available for participants throughout the course and at the start/finish areas.

There will be live timing during the race. The record will be posted immediately after the events.

Several teams of doctors and nurses are available prior to, during and immediately after the marathon event at Finish line and on the running course.

A prize presentation ceremony will be organized and finisher medals will be awarded to runners of all categories who complete the race./.
