Overseas Vietnamese Writes Book About Ho Chi Minh President
Born in 1970 in Hue and settled in Canada in 1990, Nguyen Dai Trang studied at university in Montreal. She is currently a lecturer in the Faculty of Business Administration at Centenial College, and is the President of the Canada - ASEAN Association (York University - Canada).
Although living and working abroad, she always has feelings for her homeland, especially for President Ho Chi Minh. She has published many books about President Ho Chi Minh, which are appreciated by the Canadian people and the Vietnamese community.
First overseas Vietnamese to write a book about Uncle Ho
It can be said that Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dai Trang is the first overseas Vietnamese to write and publish a book about President Ho Chi Minh. Talking about this, she said: “For a long time, I have always kept in mind and wanted to clarify the history of my nation. Therefore, I read many books on development science, national history and President Ho Chi Minh. When I settled in Canada, I noticed that the Western press, as well as many overseas Vietnamese, had different views about President Ho Chi Minh. Therefore, I went to find the answer by researching and writing books about Uncle Ho."
Nguyen Dai Trang's first book about Uncle Ho with the title “Ho Chi Minh: Heart and Talent of a Patriot,” was published in May 2010 (in English and Vietnamese) on the 120th anniversary of his birth.
Three years later, she released a second book titled “Ho Chi Minh: Humanity and Development” in three languages (Vietnamese, English and Spanish). The two books had a positive impact on the Canadian people and the overseas Vietnamese community about President Ho Chi Minh.
She said: “In 2018, my book "Ho Chi Minh - Selected works on peace, democracy and gender equality" was introduced, introducing 25 messages of President Ho Chi Minh to the US and other countries around the world from 1919-1969. In that book, there was a letter to the Prime Minister of Canada in 1966, 25 articles on gender equality.
Out of 100 articles, only about a third of them are known to the world. With each section of 25 articles, it sheds light on Uncle Ho's humanity that many people do not know, leading to misunderstandings."
Ho Chi Minh and the spirit of gender equality
In 2020, celebrating the 130th anniversary of Uncle Ho's birthday, she released an e-book of "Ho Chi Minh Songs" (translated into English) praising Ho Chi Minh, as a pure soul, an ordinary person but extraordinary.
Talking about gender equality, Anita Agrawl, former president of Toronto Women's Organization said: “Ho Chi Minh has enhanced the leadership role of women, the full equality of women in society, and at the same time, mobilize men to treat women equally in the family”.
Most recently, after the discrimination against black people in the world, she re-read all of Uncle Ho's articles on Africa, including the book "Black Race" that Uncle Ho wrote in 1925. She was moved by his great thought and vision from a hundred years ago, which is still valid.
Therefore, the fifth book entitled "The Black Race by Ho Chi Minh and Selected Works on Systemic Racism" was born in early February 2021 in Canada. The book has attracted many foreign readers' attention and admiration for President Ho Chi Minh's vision, as well as his role in the independence movement of African countries.
Phil Taylor - a Canadian reader expressed surprise that Uncle Ho had been to Boston, New York, Madagascar, and Paris. It was the experiences for President Ho Chi Minh to realize the harm of colonialism and racism, he said, and then reflected in his articles under the progressive humanistic view of a communist intellectual.
It can be said that each book of Nguyen Dai Trang is the sacred affection of an overseas Vietnamese for the beloved Uncle Ho and the homeland of Vietnam.
