PM Pham Minh Chinh: Japan - Strategic Partner of Top Importance

Chinh, who is on a four-day official visit to Japan, made the affirmation at his meeting with former Japanese Prime Minister Suga Yoshihide and President of the Japan–Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Union Nikai Toshihiro in Tokyo, the Vietnamese government portal reported.
The PM expressed his pleasure at the robust and comprehensive growth of the Vietnam-Japan extensive strategic partnership, featuring with high political trust.
He thanked Suga, Nikai and the Japanese government for donating vaccines to Vietnam as well as the contributions by Suga, Nikai, and the Japan–Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Union to the development of the Vietnam-Japan relationship.
On the occasion, Chinh attended a departure ceremony of Japanese citrus unshiu export to Vietnam. This is part of the two countries’ efforts to boost mutual fruit trading, including Vietnamese longan and lychees.

At a meeting with Tochigi Governor Tomikazu Fukuda the same day, the PM said the Vietnamese govenrment creates the best possible conditions for Japanese businesses, including those from Tochigi prefecture, to successfully operate in Vietnam.
Vietnam and Japan still hold great potential for stronger cooperation, he said, adding Tochigi should expand its trade and investment cooperation with Vietnamese localities to bring into full play the two countries’ development potential and cooperation mechanisms.
He suggested that the two sides increase cooperation in the areas of health care, processing and manufacturing, and agriculture that are Tochigi’s strengths, as well as in tourism and people-to-people exchanges, according to VOV.
For his part, Fukuda briefed his guest on cooperation between Tochigi and Vietnam in recent times, saying 22 Tochigi businesses are currently operating in Vietnam. In addition, he said the Vietnamese community is the largest expat community in the prefecture with 8,000 people.
Tochigi wishes to strengthen cooperation with more Vietnamese localities and to receive more high-quality workers and technical interns from Vietnam to work in the prefecture, affirmed Fukuda.
On this occasion, leaders of Vietnam’s Vinh Phuc province signed a cooperation document with leaders of Tochigi.
In the afternoon, PM Pham Minh Chinh attended a conference on local cooperation between Vietnam and Japan co-hosted by the Tochigi administration, the Vietnamese Ministry of Planning and Investment and the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan.
He assured that the Vietnamese government accompanies and creates all favourable conditions for businesses of Tochigi in particular and Japan in general to make successful, sustainable and long-term investment in Vietnam, especially in the areas of digital transformation, infrastructure development, human resource training, innovation, sustainable development, and climate change response.
“Most importantly, we have mutual trust, understanding and respect to cooperate in the spirit of harmonizing benefits and sharing risks,” said Chinh.

Later the same day, the PM met with representatives of the Vietnamese community in Japan, during which he said the Vietnamese Party and State always creates the best possible conditions for overseas Vietnamese (OVs) to contribute to their homeland's national construction and development.
On behalf of Party and State leaders, the PM thanked the Vietnamese in Japan for always being with and supporting the homeland amid difficulties with various practical and effective activities, VietnamPlus said.
Highlighting the thriving relations between Vietnam and Japan, Chinh said his visit is expected to open up a new chapter for the bilateral ties.
He called on the Vietnamese community in Japan to follow the host country's laws and make more contributions to consolidating and enhancing the friendship and the extensive strategic partnership between the two countries.
The PM said Vietnamese competent agencies are studying the reopening of commercial international flights at an early date, including those to Japan.
The Party and the State always consider OVs an integral part and development momentum of the country, the Government leader reiterated.
The participating expats affirmed that the Vietnamese community in Japan will continue to support the Party, the State and people at home in the pandemic combat, and socio-economic recovery and development.
They raised some recommendations and proposals to the Party, State, ministries and sectors on removing obstacles and bottlenecks in investment and procedures, thus creating optimal conditions for OVs to contribute to national construction and development.
PM Chinh arrived in Tokyo on November 22 for an four-day official visit to Japan at the invitation of Japanese PM Fumio Kishida. He is being accompanied by a number of ministers and leaders of various localities in Vietnam./.
