Various activities to mark President Ho Chi Minh’s 125th birthday (May 19th) have been organized by the overseas Vietnamese community.

The General Association of Vietnamese - Cambodian People on May 18th organized a ceremony to mark the 125th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh in Phnom Penh.

At the event, the delegates offered incenses to the alter of Uncle Ho at the association’s headquarter as well as expressed their respect and gratitude to him, who founded and educated the Communist Party of Vietnam, for his great contributions to the nation’s revolution.

Chairman of the General Association of Vietnamese Cambodian People Huynh Minh Phu has reviewed the life and career of President Ho Chi Minh and confirmed the pride and infinite gratitude to the President as the most excellent leader of the people of Vietnam.

Previously on May 17th, the Vietnamese Embassy in the United Kingdom (UK) and Northern Ireland held a ceremony in London and laid down a wreath of flowers in tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at the New Zealand Building, formerly the Carlton Hotel where the late President worked 100 years ago.

At the ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to the UK and Northern Ireland Nguyen Van Thao declared great gratitude and pride for the President, the founder of modern Vietnam and the preeminent leader of the Vietnamese people, and highlighted the late President’s role in the country’s national construction and defence.

At the same day, at a meeting was held by the Vietnamese Embassy in New Delhi, India to mark the 125th birthday of Uncle Ho.

President of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) Lokesh Chandra, Chairman of the Indian-Vietnam Friendship Association K.L. Malhotra and President of the India-Vietnam Solidarity Committee in West Bengal Geetesh Sharma recalled memories of President Ho Chi Minh’s visit to India in 1958. They said the leader’s modesty and sincerity left a great impression on many Indians at the time.

The Indian guests highlighted the great contributions of the late President Ho Chi Minh to Vietnam and the world’s revolutionary movements.

A solemn ceremony was also organized in Zalaegerszeg city, Hungary on May 17th to mark Uncle Ho’s 125th birthday.

On this occasion, the city also inaugurated the upgrade of statue of President Ho Chi Minh, which was created by Hungary’s greatest sculptors László Marton and has been placed there since April 30th, 1976.

Mr. Major Gábor, Deputy Head of the Hungarian Socialist Party in Zalaegerszeg city, said that the statue of President Ho Chi Minh located in Zalaegerszeg city over the past four decades shows the love of the people in the city with the great leader.

In addition, celebrations for the 125th birthday were also held in South Africa and France./.
