What is the significance and expectation of General Secretary and President To Lam's visit to China this time?

This visit is President To Lam's first visit after being elected General Secretary. It is an important meeting between the top leaders of the two Parties after the historic visit of General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping in 2023.

This demonstrates President To Lam's effort to develop relations between the two Parties and countries, demonstrating that both sides consider this relationship a priority direction in foreign policy, highlighting the special friendship between the two Parties and countries.

We hope that this visit will inherit the traditional friendship, continue to consolidate and enhance high-level political trust, and build a China-Vietnam Community of a Shared Future.

2025 marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and China. What do both sides need to do to promote friendship and strategic cooperation in the short and long term? What opportunities and challenges will the Vietnam-China relationship face in the near future?

This year marks the 100th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's visit to Guangzhou (China) for revolutionary activities.

In 2025, we will celebrate the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, and the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and China.

In my opinion, the two countries need to continue to steadfastly implement the strategic orientations set out by the leaders of the two Parties, uphold the political guidance of the two Parties over the bilateral relationship, support each other in pursuing the socialist path suitable to the conditions of each country. The two sides promote and deepen the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership, and build a Vietnam-China Community of Shared Future with strategic significance.

In the coming time, I believe that in cooperation, there will be more opportunities than challenges. Vietnam and China both value justice, fairness, and equity based on the principles of international law, equality, and mutual benefit.

After nearly six years working in Vietnam, how do you feel about your tenure, and memories with the country and people of Vietnam?

I have many feelings during my nearly six-year tenure. For me, Vietnam is a country with a long history and culture, and is full of vitality. From one perspective, Vietnam has a close historical and cultural connection with China. From another perspective, Vietnam has its own unique national culture. The development of the two nations and two cultures of China and Vietnam together contributed to the formation and development of Eastern civilization.

I think that Vietnamese people are industrious, intelligent and highly organized, focusing on promoting the strength of the collective. The image of hard-working and diligent Vietnamese women also makes a great impression on me.

In addition, Vietnam's economy has a lot of potential. Over the past six years, I have witnessed Vietnam's GDP grow. In particular, with challenges such as the Covid-19 pandemic, and unstable factors from the external environment, Vietnam's economy still achieved outstanding results, political and social stability was maintained. This is an achievement that is not easy to gain.
