President Tran Dai Quang hosted separate receptions in Hanoi on January 16 for newly-appointed ambassadors of Sudan, Peru, Zambia, Afghanistan, Namibia and Bolivia.

At his meeting with Sudanese Ambassador Mohamed Elmurtada Mubarak Ismail Siraq, President Quang congratulated Sudan on getting rid of embargo, thus having opportunities to expand trade and boost its socio-economic development in the future.

He thanked Sudan for cooperating with and supporting Vietnam’s candidacy at multilateral forums such as the UN Human Rights Council in the 2014-2016 tenure and the UN Economic and Social Council in the 2016-2018 term, and proposed that Sudan continue backing Vietnam’s bid to run for a non-permanent seat in the UN Security Council in the 2020-2021 term.

While lauding the fruitful results of the second meeting of the Vietnam-Sudan Joint Committee in Hanoi in October 2016, the President suggested the two sides soon organise the next meeting to seek ways to boost cooperation in trade, investment, agriculture, aquaculture, oil and gas, and telecommunications.

He also suggested the Sudan diplomat actively work with Vietnamese ministries and sectors and propose promising cooperation areas, while introducing trade and investment opportunities in Sudan to Vietnamese firms.

President Quang took this occasion to ask the ambassador to convey his invitation to Sudanese President Omar Al-Bashir to visit Vietnam.

For his part, the Sudanese diplomat said that his country hopes to learn from Vietnam’s socio-economic development experiences and to have more new cooperation deals between the two countries in the future.

He also promised to further step up bilateral cooperation in different fields, especially in economy and trade.

Welcoming Peruvian Ambassador Augusto Morelli Salgado, President Quang held that in the coming time, the two nations should promote existing cooperation mechanisms, while expanding cooperative ties in new areas.

He thanked the Peruvian Government for creating favourable conditions for Vietnamese companies to invest and do business in the country, and suggested the two countries strengthen cooperation in the spheres of health, science, education-training, defence-security, and crime prevention and control.

Salgado said that the Peruvian Government always welcomes Vietnamese economic groups to invest in Peru, adding that one of his major tasks during his tenure in Vietnam is to foster bilateral partnership through the Inter-Governmental Committee.

Speaking at the reception for Zambian Ambassador Walubita Imakando, President Quang held that in the coming time, the two countries should sign cooperation deals and increase delegation exchanges to improve mutual understanding and fully tap each other’s potential.

Vietnam is willing to share experiences in national development, especially in agriculture, to assist Zambia in ensuring food security, he said.

President Quang thanked Zambia for its cooperation with and support to Vietnam at international forums, and urged Zambia to back Vietnam’s candidacy for a non-permanent membership in the UN Security Council.

He asked Imakando to convey his regards and invitation to Zambian President Edgar Lungu to pay an official visit to Vietnam.

Congratulating Vietnam on its successful hosting of the APEC Year 2017, the Zambian ambassador affirmed Zambia’s support for Vietnam’s bid to run for a non-permanent seat in the UN Security Council.

In the meeting with Afghan Ambassador Janan Mosazai, the Vietnamese leader lauded Afghanistan for its efforts to overcome many difficulties and record achievements in national development. He affirmed Vietnam’s policy of supporting the international community’s efforts in stabilising the situation in Afghanistan.

President Quang expressed his hope for stronger partnership between the two countries in the future for the sake of their people and affirmed that Vietnam stands ready to share experiences in national construction and development with Afghanistan.

Having appreciated Afghanistan’s support to Vietnam at multilateral forums, he proposed that Afghanistan back Vietnam’s candidacy for a non-permanent seat in the UN Security Council in the 2020-2021 term.

Mosazai said that economic partnership is an important pillar in bilateral relations, adding that Afghanistan expects to strengthen ties with Vietnam in other areas. The ambassador asserted that Afghanistan backs Vietnam’s efforts to become a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council.

Meeting Namibian Ambassador Elia George Kaiyamo, President Quang appraised the country’s national development strategy, which focuses on speeding up industrialisation and boosting the development of micro-, small- and medium-sized enterprises in order to persify the economy and create jobs.

Vietnam and Namibia should increase the exchange of high-ranking delegations and people-to-people exchanges, he said, adding that Vietnam is ready to share its experience with Namibia in development areas, especially agriculture.

On this occasion, President Quang also called for Namibia’s support to Vietnam’s bid to run for a non-permanent membership in the UN Security Council in the 2020-2021 term.

Kaiyamo said that Namibia wants to expand comprehensive cooperation with Vietnam, especially in the prioritised fields of education, agriculture and environment.

The ambassador stressed that Vietnam is a friend of Namibia, therefore he would urge the Namibian Government to back Vietnam’s candidacy for a non-permanent seat in the UN Security Council.

At the reception for Bolivian Ambassador Heriberto Quispe Charca, the State leader proposed that Vietnam and Bolivia should increase delegation exchanges to reinforce political trust, while continue negotiating new cooperation deals in all fields and improving the efficiency of economic and trade partnership.

Through the ambassador, President Quang extended his greetings and invitation to Bolivian President Evo Morales to pay an official visit to Vietnam.

The Bolivian diplomat stated that his country is determined to foster collaboration with Vietnam in diplomacy, economy, culture, education, and technology.

Bolivia wants to export agricultural and mineral products to Vietnam, increase student exchanges and attract more Vietnamese firms to invest in oil and gas, telecommunications and agriculture sectors in Bolivia.

He told his host that Bolivian President Evo Morales has planned to make an official visit to Vietnam at a convenient time and expected that President Quang would visit Bolivia soon./.
