Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism Nguyen Le Phuc stressed that the Russian Federation has always been one of the leading source markets for tourists to Vietnam.

Currently, more and more Russian tourists are choosing Vietnam as a destination for its long history, and unique traditional culture. Vietnam, he said, is known as a strong national identity and an attractive, safe destination with great potential for tourism development.

In 2019, the number of Russian tourists to Vietnam reached 650,000, ranking 6th among the top tourist markets in Vietnam. After the Covid-19 pandemic, in the first 5 months of 2024, the number of Russian tourists to Vietnam reached 95,000, an increase of 75% over the same period last year.

Phuc believes that the promotional activities of Vietnam tourism in recent times and this program to introduce Vietnam tourism in the Russian Federation are a good opportunity for Russian friends to understand more about the image, people, culture, and tourism of Vietnam.

"Vietnam always welcomes you with open arms and will provide the best quality tourism services and products to meet your needs. At the same time, we also create the best conditions for tourism businesses and travel agencies from Vietnam and the Russian Federation to cooperate effectively," said Phuc.

Also representatives of the Vietnam National Tourism Administration presented the current situation of Vietnam tourism, its potentials and the advantages at the program. On the other hand, representatives of management agencies and tourism businesses of the Russian Federation also discussed many issues related to the tourism development of the two countries.

Speaking at the program, Acting Director Manulyov Viacheslav from the Department of Foreign Economic Relations and International Relations of Moscow City highly appreciated Vietnam's initiative to organize the program. It better introduced Vietnamese tourism in Russia with the presence of Russian and international partners, which promotes the beauty and diverse potential of tourism - an important field of cooperation in Vietnam - Russia relations.

Vietnam is a country with a long-standing culture and many beautiful landscapes, he stated, attractive cuisine with unique and diverse flavors, friendly and hospitable Vietnamese people... which attract Russian and international tourists to Vietnam. Manulyov hopes that tourism cooperation promotion between Russia and Vietnam will take full advantage of the development potential of both sides in the coming time.

On the Vietnamese side, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung suggested some orientations for Vietnam - Russia tourism development in the coming time. For example, the Vietnam National Tourism Administration continues to advise and report to competent authorities to consider re-establishing existing flights, especially direct flights from Russia to Vietnam.

Vietnamese businesses also need to take advantage of the current flight route from Moscow to Ho Chi Minh City, connecting and optimizing transportation so that when Russian tourists come to Ho Chi Minh City, they can immediately go to tourist destinations, resorts, and beaches such as Nha Trang or Binh Thuan - Russian tourists' favorites.

Previously, businesses from both sides connected, exchanged, updated information on activities, and sought opportunities in a business connection program. This helps the participants establish business cooperation relationships that promote Vietnam's tourism to Russian tourists in particular and international tourists in general and vice versa.
