The Vietnam Provincial Roadshow in Italy took place in Milan from June 28-29, as part of activities to mark the 45th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties and five years of the Vietnam-Italy strategic partnership.

The event, jointly organised by the Vietnam’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Embassy in Italy, attracted the participation of a group of officials from Hanoi, the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho, and central Phu Yen and Quang Ngai provinces, ministries, sectors and businesses of involved localities.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Italy Cao Chinh Thien also joined activities of the Vietnamese delegation.

Within the framework of the programme, the delegation participated in the "Opportunities for economic cooperation between Lombardy region and localities in Vietnam" conference organised by the Lombardy Regional Government, the Lombardy Regional Industry Federation and the Embassy of Vietnam in Italy. They also visited the memorial site of Uncle Ho in Milan and some of the innovative industrial foundations of the Lombardy Region. While there, they also worked with representatives of the Italian-Vietnamese Friendship Associations from many localities in Italy (Veneto, Emilia-Romagna, Milan, Torino, Venezia, Padova, Genova, Parma, Bologna, Trento).

Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee, Nguyen Duc Chung and Enrico Letta, former Prime Minister of Italy, President of the Association Italy - ASEAN unanimously proposed that Hanoi host the ASEAN-Italy Cooperation Summit, scheduled to be held in May, 2019 with the participation of the leaders of the Italian Government and some 300 leading Italian companies.

In the framework of the visit, the Department of Foreign Affairs (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) and the Italian Business Association in Vietnam (ICham) signed a Memorandum of Cooperation to support localities, enterprises and partners in strengthening bilateral cooperation.

The Vietnam Provincial Roadshow is an effort by the Foreign Ministry to coordinate with Vietnam’s representative offices abroad in helping Vietnamese localities to tighten their cooperation with foreign partners./.
