“Searching for Ambassadors of Vietnamese Abroad in 2024” Contest Launched in Japan
The Consulate General of Vietnam in Fukuoka organized a ceremony to launch the day for honoring the Vietnamese language and a contest to seek ambassadors of the language on April 13, VNA reported.
The event, held in both online and offline formats, aimed at preserving and promoting the national cultural identity among generations of Vietnamese in Japan.
Attending at the Vietnam bridgehead was Vice Chairman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs Nguyen Manh Dong.
At the Japanese bridgehead was Consul General of Vietnam in Fukuoka Vu Chi Mai, Japan and representatives of leaders of the Vietnamese Association in the provinces of Fukuoka, Kitakyushu, Kumamoto, Nagasaki, Okinawa and the Vietnamese Association. in the South Central region of Japan, parents and children of the Vietnamese language class in Fukuoka.
More than 110,000 Vietnamese are living, working and studying in Kyushu and Okinawa regions and south central of Japan. Preserving and promoting Vietnamese for the second and third generation of children who are Vietnamese or of Vietnamese origin is an important, very practical and humane work.

In that spirit, the launching ceremony program and the searching for Ambassadors of Vietnamese abroad in 2024 contest are two initial events in a series of activities to promote information, and mobilization of organizations, families, and communities, along with individuals join hands to spread Vietnamese language and national culture in the Vietnamese communities in the region in 2024.
Speaking at the event, Vietnamese general consul Vu Chi Mai stressed that the event was part of efforts to implement the project “Day for Honoring Vietnamese Language in Vietnamese Communities Abroad” approved by the Prime Minister.
This year, the consulate will join hands with competent associations to open Vietnamese classes, provide training for teachers, and build of Vietnamese books, she said, adding communications work will be pushed ahead to popularize the project.

From Vietnam, Vice Chairman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs Nguyen Manh Dong hailed the consulate and the Vietnamese community in the south of Japan for organizing various cultural activities that help Japanese and other international communities have a better insight into the Vietnamese culture.
He expressed his hope that the event would receive an enthusiastic response from the Vietnamese people.
The Vietnamese consulate and relevant associations agreed to set up a coordinating board for Vietnamese language and culture teaching for Vietnamese children, with training courses on teaching methods for non-professional teachers and parents to be held in May.
One activity this May is two-day in-person and online training classes for non-professional teachers and parents on methods of teaching Vietnamese to children.
Businesses and sponsors in the community have promised to contribute to organizing and maintaining the activities of Vietnamese language classes in the coming time.
This is a continuation and response activity to the launching ceremony of the Day for Honoring Vietnamese Language 2024 that the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan organized in Tokyo on April 6.
